SMEP question

I have what I think is a very close to positive opk today cd14 but it’s a little early for me (I know it can change which is fine but) as we have BD today anyway already as part of our try a day miss a day, do I count today as day 1 of the 3 straight days...basically I’m worried about classing today as day 1 in case I don’t ovulate till my usual day 17 as we need to make sure the sperm is fully replenished since we have male factor.

I should know the answer since it’s been nearly 5 years of trying for a second 🙄

You can download an app called femometer and scan the LH reading into it. I would say your vet close to peak so ovulation will be in the next 24/36hours

Tiff94 · 16/07/2020 15:49

I would class tomorrow as ovulation for you more then likely do another test in the tonight/tomorrow morning and see if it changes

Mctm123 · 16/07/2020 15:51

Thank you @Tiff94

So with regards to smep would you class today as day 1 and carry on for the next 2 or 3 days? X

Tiff94 · 16/07/2020 15:56

Yes I would today tomorrow and Saturday (after egg is realease is when you break) that's how I saw it I used SMEP this month for first time so we see how it goes next week

Mctm123 · 16/07/2020 16:04

Aww thank you. Good luck to you too 😊

Thanks and you 🤞

VenusStarr · 16/07/2020 17:35

Hi @Mctm123 have you tested again? When I'm getting close to peak I test 2/3 times as my surge is fairly short. I'd probably say you're going to ovulate in the best couple of days and start the 3 on the trot.

Good luck - I'm doing smep too, my positive was early too - 4dpo now 🤞

Mctm123 · 16/07/2020 17:49

Oooh fingers crossed @VenusStarr! I have to admit I’ve lost all hope but just plodding on before we consider more Ivf next year maybe. Throwing supplements, conceive plus and this now into the mix an see what happens...

I tested again an it looked slightly darker so I think official day will be tomorrow. But I’ll cover the next 2 days to be sure anyway then break an go again. I’m taking today as day 1 or shall I take tomorrow as day 1! Bloody confusing haha xx

Same @Mctm123, we're waiting to hear from our ivf clinic. I think we spoke on another thread, I'm going to take progesterone from 7dpo as I've had recurrent mc and it's something we've not tried before.

I think you'll definitely be covered by dtd the next 3 days, plus you have your one for luck later on. I do measure bbt too, so I ovulated on my positive opk day, we haven't bothered with the extra one as I can see I definitely ovulated.

I'm on an smep thread, come and join us there :)

VenusStarr · 16/07/2020 17:57

Here's the thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3960790-ttc-with-smep x

Mctm123 · 16/07/2020 18:15

Aww yeah @VenusStarr we have haven’t we 😊 hopefully the progesterone makes a difference for you next time but even better hopefully you don’t have to go through it and you get a natural conception! So did your clinic not give you the pessaries last time? xx

Oh thanks for the thread, I’ll go on there now 👍

I've not had any interventions yet, have been ttc for 2.5 years and initially it was infertility but then I did concieve whilst waiting to hear from the clinic. So think it's subfertility now as no reasons why we initially couldn't conceive and now miscarrying. Hoping the progesterone will help but pleased we're moving ahead with the ivf option - had enough of trying on our own!

Smep does work though - my second pregnancy was a result of us doing it last year 🤞 for both of us @Mctm123 ❤️

Mctm123 · 16/07/2020 18:27

Oh I see. Oh let’s hope the progesterone is what you need then. It’s mad I actually liked going through Ivf cos I felt like we were doing ‘something’ as opposed to the disappointment of coming on every month. It does get you down trying and getting nowhere but I am feeling hopeful at the moment...it’s an emotional rollercoaster isn’t it!! Xx

To be honest I can’t believe I’ve never tried the smep before I’ve always just tried every other day an try an switch off but I do think there’s been other reasons preventing us getting pregnant. My partner has been on medication which he’s off now so fingers crossed, plus we have our little boy so we can conceive naturally xx

Hope so @Mctm123 🤞 I'm going to start it tomorrow, been advised to start it 7 days after my positive opk. I'm pleased just to be trying something new. We'd actually stopped ttc as we felt it was pointless without doing something different. So this is a last ditch attempt before we give ivf a try.

Fingers crossed for you now your husband has stopped that medication :) xx

Mctm123 · 17/07/2020 12:26

Oh great wishing you lots of luck!

I’ve had a good phone call this morning regarding the complaint I put into the Ivf clinic about my partners medication not being reviewed before we started Ivf (we think that’s what’s caused our losses) and they have arranged a meeting for us to go in. Don’t know what the outcome will be but I’m feeling pleased for now x

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 17/07/2020 13:09

That's good news @Mctm123 🤞 something positive comes out of that.

Keep me posted on how smep eirks out for you - maybe we both won't need ivf next month! :) xx

Mctm123 · 17/07/2020 17:39

Oh I’d bloody love that @VenusStarr 😊😊😊

OP posts:
Mctm123 · 24/07/2020 14:52

How are you @VenusStarr?

I’m 7dpo today and had the tiniest ever pink dot on the toilet paper before but nothing since. I’m unsure if this would be possible implantation bleeding as it was that small you could have easily missed it 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
Mctm123 · 24/07/2020 15:38

@Tiff94 did I just see good news for you in another thread? 😊

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 24/07/2020 17:13

Oh that's promising @Mctm123, sadly I don't think we did it this month 😔 feeling decidedly periody and am due either tomorrow or Sunday. Not sure if I'll just come on with the progesterone - my temp is still nice and high but bfn today.

But, I heard from my clinic and we should have our consultation next month 🙏

Keep me posted! Xx

Tiff94 · 09/10/2020 15:50

@Mctm123 just came across this thread and yes I did get great news that month back in July I'm now currently 14 weeks pregnant and doing the semp method that month did work. Best of luck I hope you ladies had had good news since I then too and I'd not baby dust to you all xx.
