Clear blue ovulation tests after pill

Hi, I'm new here and only just started trying to conceive.
Firstly can someone please explain all the abbreviations as I am struggling to understand the posts!
I have been on the pill for two years (cerazette although for the last month it was cerelle) and previous to that I was on the injection for two years. The whole time I had no bleeding whatsoever. When it changed to cerelle, I had a period of 5 days and then two weeks later had another one of 5 days. This was 1st and 15th June. I stopped taking the pill as of 1st July.
I have started using the clear blue ovulation kit. I started straight away as wasn't sure what my normal cycle is like due to having the two random periods and nothing for four years. I had lows every day and then on 9th July had a solid smiley. Two days later it was straight back to low.
Just looking for advice, similar stories, anything that you think may help!
Sorry for the long post and thank you to anyone who has stuck here to the end! Grin

Wow. Well it sounds like you may have ovulated when you got that solid - that's great because it can take months for ovulation to return. It's impossible to say for sure unless you also track BBT (temperature) so you might want to consider that.

The solid smiley means you're having an LH surge, and that you're likely to ovulate in the next 24-36 hours. You only get one surge per month (generally) so normal to go back to low again after.

There's a thread with all the abbreviations somewhere - have a google. Becomes a second language very quickly!

@RMarieClaire hope you don't mind me asking, but was just wondering if you're talking from personal experience re saying ovulation can take months to come back after stopping the pill? I was on a combined pill for 13 years and have been off it for three months now but don't think I'm ovulating even though I've had AF twice since coming off xx

I wasn't on the pill, but the implant. It took me 5 months to ovulate, but I then got pregnant second cycle. I'm not 100% sure, but friends anecdotally told me (and a few mumsnetters) that it can take a while on the pill too, even as long as a year. HOWEVER, I think that's rare. With a bit of pressure I persuaded my doctor to give me a blood test to check if I was ovulating, but I got my results the same day I got my BFP Blush. There are things you can take - clomid, I think? - to help regulate periods, so don't be afraid to talk to you GP. I would say give it a couple more cycles, and try tracking BBT so you can build a really clear picture.
Good luck!
