Private fertility testing

Hi! Has anyone gone private for a fertility test?

We have been trying for 10 months, which I know isnt a lot in comparison to some people..
But I have spoke to a gynaecologist who told me they wouldn't start testing until I had been trying for 2 years!!!
I KNOW something is wrong. My cycles are a mess, anything from 30-68 days. This month my luteal phase was 6 days!! Normally 16, which is quite long anyway.

My thoughts are if I go private and they find something I can go to my GP, and if they dont, my mind will be put at rest.

What are your thoughts please? And does anyone know what costs I'm looking at?

We are thinking the same, we have been trying for 7 months, and all the way through my Luteal phase I spot or am bleeding quite heavily but only in my luteal phase.

My GP was happy to do a few tests once I got to a year of trying. She said she really felt for people trying for two years and wanted to help. Not sure if I just got lucky, but maybe just ask? I can't remember exactly which, I think FSH and lh. I then ended up going private for IVF because I was too impatient to wait for NHS waiting lists etc, but it was good to have those results as it lessened the costs at the private clinic (slightly).
Good luck!

Where I live the GP can refer after 12 months. I really sympathise. I have short 24 day cycles, so I'm at cycle 9 but can't be referred until the end of November. I'm looking to go private for some tests before then. I've looked at the list of consultants at the NHS hospital, then checked who also does private work. At the Spire I've looked at they actually advertised the cost of a consultation which was helpful.
Good luck Flowers
