Help - pill, bleeding then BFP?

Hello - I have a weird situation and would appreciate any thoughts or experiences from you ladies!

Came off the pill and first two cycles were 29/25 days (with no positive OPKs). Cycle three, strong positive OPK on CD27. Negative pregnancy test on CD35. Bleeding started on CD36. Heavier, more painful and longer than usual and so thought a heavier AF after ovulating 3 months after finishing pill (bleeding stopped on CD5). Now CD9 and got a pretty strong positive OPK which is unusual for both how early and strong. Took a FRER and immediate strong (not as strong as control) second line. Clearblue digital says pregnant.

Very confused given I had a negative pregnancy test one day before the bleeding started and now 4 days after it ends, getting positives on multiple types of tests. Thank you for any advice!

Very occasionally, implantation bleeding can be heavy. You likely ovulated cd28, which isn't uncommon soon after coming off hormonal contraception.

Congrats - you're pregnant.

Take folic acid and vitamin d.

Sorry you're going through this, it must be very stressful.

If we assume your CD27 OPK meant ovulation on CD28 then testing on CD35 would only be 7DPO so too early for a positive pregnancy test.

However 7DPO fits nicely with implantation timelines so 'could' in theory explain the bleed as an implantation bleed. If I were you I would call your doctor/midwife unit to self refer as pregnant and explain to them what you've explained here.

Hopefully it was just implantation but with it being heavy, painful and 5 days long I'd be mindful of the risk of it being ectopic. It could be worth asking the midwife that books you in what you should do if you do have any more pains/bleeding.

Fingers crossed for you 😊 hopefully it's smooth sailing from here onwards.

Thank you both. Have now had bloods checked due to the bleeding and the results show low hCG and progesterone. Repeat bloods being done later this week, but do not feel hopeful for a positive outcome. Fingers crossed that if no good news, will be resolved quickly and onto future attempts...
