Agnus castus (vitex) and irregular bleeding

Hey! After a MMC in May I started taking agnus castus as it took a little over 2 years to conceive that pregnancy (pcos and endo) and my cycles were long. This cycle however I've spotted on CD11 but everything gone by morning, again on CD16 gone by morning but by the evening of CD17 I had a light flow. It's back to just brown when I wipe. This is CD19 and no sign of ovulation yet when I was due to ovulate yesterday. Could this be the agnus castus? It's the only supplement I'm taking I can think of that could be messing up my cycle. Anyone experienced similar? I'm annoyed because I've looked at taking it for a few years as I thought it would definitely be beneficial to me with the pcos but just never got round to starting it and I worked so hard on losing weight and getting my cycles regular (although long) and now it's all gone tits up 😔

Agnus castus really disagreed with me and caused irregular bleeding. It works for some women but it's a pretty strong herb, and our hormones can rest on a very delicate balance! I'm not a herbalist but I'd suggest it's maybe not the right thing if you've got pcos. Do some research on inositol and n-acetyl cysteine, if memory serves the former is highly effective (in studies) for pcos, the latter for ovarian cysts (I've used both to get rid of persistent cysts in peri-meno and I believe they worked really well). They probably have a different action to the herbs, which may work better for you.

@EllenRipley thank you! I thought it was bound to be the agnus castus. Disappointed when I've thought for years it would be the answer haha. I have started myo-inositol too. I got an almost peak opk today and my temp had dropped this morning so hoping I ovulate tomorrow.. I will stop the agnus castus now and don't think I'll go back on it after the TWW!

@Stabal good luck! 👍
If you were considering herbal/alternative routes to help with conceiving, I'd also consider Chinese medicine: I worked with a Chinese herbalist years ago and he was amazing, very many success stories with women who'd had long term fertility problems & gynae issues, or had point blank been told they'd never conceive.
