Implant Issues - contraception?

I’ve been on the contraceptive implant for years, I have had 2 implants and had no issues at all. I got my 3rd implant in January and I have lost all sex drive, I don’t even want to kiss or cuddle my other half. I feel upset and sad, I’m putting so much pressure on myself but nothing helps. I am thinking of getting this implant removed but just curious if anyone else has experienced this and what they did? I was fine with the first 2 but the 3rd seems “off”?

My first implant was fantastic, my second was okay, my third... "periods" returned and I had horrendous itching around my breasts every month before my period. Drove me mental. I too wondered what was different x

How strange! There seems to be no chance with the implant itself, so weird that the same hormone etc can impact you differently each time?

I’ve had 2, one was a total dream and worked perfectly, second one I had lots of breakthrough bleeding, irritability etc. My doctor insisted they were the same but I can’t see how they could have been. I had the second one taken out in the end and went back to the pill.

I'm on my third and feel the exact same. It's due out this year and I won't be replacing it.

A week after I had the implant I lost my sex drive and it hasn’t come back. I’ve had it 17 months.

Did you find that your sex drive returned when you went back onto the pill?

Mine is always relatively suppressed on hormonal contraception, better on the pill than on the implant, but best when not using it if I’m honest! To the extent DH has said he’s happy to continue with condoms once we need to think about contraception again as the disadvantages are outweighed by my increased libido Grin (I’m currently pregnant - planned before anyone worries about efficiency of any of the above methods!). That’s just me though, and given the choice the pill was better for me than implant #2. Just wish I could have another experience like implant #1!
