IVF waiting list after lockdown

Hi all. Just wondering how those of us waiting on IVF are getting on since the clinics re-opened on May 11th?

I have been told to wait 6 months before my chance which is devastating as that will take me to 2.5 years of ttc.

Where are you based and what is the waiting time at your clinic?

Hi I emailed them and they have said they cant tell me when. That's so annoying as it's a long process anyway were in the same boat as you with the amount of time trying

Hello @Griff2020

Sorry to hear that you've also been suffering for such a long time. I had to harass my clinic to get any kind of response (NHS). Where were you in the list before lockdown? I hope things shuffle along at your clinic faster.

I keep thinking I can't go on with ttc any longer every time I get bad news, but then what other option do I have? I really want a child Sad.

I totally understand our next appointment was like a group one (tbh I was worrying about doing it as I dont see why you have to have a group discussion but it was like only an hour) I cant get through on the phone and on the email she just said she will send a letter to me me. I thought I was pregnant last month but it must have been a chemical pregnancy, I've also has a early miscarriage over 6 months ago. But I dont want to wait all that time like you say every month is heartbreaking sometimes it would be easier to be told you cant have children atleast you can then move on and plus some people get pregnant anyway. My only concern is what if I wait all this time for ivf and then have a miscarriage as I've heard that people take baby asprin but you need to have 3 miscarriages before they test you for it !!

EasterBunny7 · 11/07/2020 10:50

If you've had your group session, you're further along than me! So, it may not be a 6 month wait for you Grin

Sorry to hear of your miscarriage(s), fingers crossed your IVF treatment will go swimmingly. [Star]

Ooh well we was waiting to have the group sessions not too sure what happens in them. I only was there 2 or 3 times then it all got cancelled. What about you?

Pinkstars2501 · 11/07/2020 20:58

Our group session was basically a learning session. You sit at tables and the nurses and scientists go through the process of ivf and icsi and you can ask questions. We also had some forms to go through.
It's like a little science lesson. No group activities or anything like that if that's what you're worried about.

Griff2020 · 12/07/2020 09:18

@Pinkstars2501 how long after the group sessions do you have the ivf?? Obviously it's all delayed now but it be nice to know a full timescalw😒

Pinkstars2501 · 12/07/2020 13:56

For us it was about two months. We went for our group then were told there was some spaces the next month and the month after but depending where you were in your cycle ready for down regulating. I had my down reg injection in December, and started the stimming jabs/egg collection and embryo transfer in jan. Unfortunately it failed.

Griff2020 · 12/07/2020 14:38

@Pinkstars2501 sorry to hear it failed. Must be horrible after all that. Are you going for another round??

Pinkstars2501 · 12/07/2020 16:12

Thanks. Yeh it was tough.
Yes we have a frozen embryo transfer soon.

Griff2020 · 13/07/2020 10:39

@Pinkstars2501 hope it works out this time!!

Pinkstars2501 · 13/07/2020 11:29

Thankyou, good luck with your journey Smile

Griff2020 · 13/07/2020 14:57

@Pinkstars2501 I've just been booked into sign my consent forms so is this what you do on the group sessions. I didn't get told if it was a group one this time but he said it would be two hours I think he said consent forms and blood test

Pinkstars2501 · 13/07/2020 15:06

We did sign some forms during it and had a blood test after the group session. Both of us had a blood test that day.

Then if I remember rightly there was another appointment with a nurse which involves more form filling just before the actual treatment.

Griff2020 · 13/07/2020 16:19

Thanks do you know what blood test are for as I have already had the egg count one. Sorry for all the questions

Pinkstars2501 · 13/07/2020 19:04

That's ok. Honestly I don't remember at all. For me it's all a bit of a blur. I don't remember my numbers on any of the tests. I didn't really understand a lot of it to be honest.

Griff2020 · 16/07/2020 18:11

@Pinkstars2501 had an appointment the other day so they said my egg quality was good. I totally forgot to ask if they test for that blood clotting that causes a miscarriage (which people take baby asprin for) do you know if they do. I can ask at my next appointment if not

Pinkstars2501 · 16/07/2020 19:08

Not sure to be honest. They never actually explained what they tested my blood for. And I didn't ask. I assume it's for normal cycle hormones.

I've never had a positive pregnancy test so it's not like they have anything to go on like that really. I have stage 3 Endo and a frozen pelvis so I wouldn't be likely to get pregnant without ivf, but as far as the clinic is concerned that's the "only" reason. So probably that's why they haven't been specific with telling me they're testing for that kind of thing. Sorry.

Griff2020 · 17/07/2020 11:44

That's fine thanks, all the test they have come back is "normal" but I havent had that test so I think sometimes I'm just reading up too much and worrying too much
