Hi, I am just after some advice. I found out on Saturday that I was pregnant. I had two positive clear blue tests 5 days before the due date of my period. My last period was 13th June which makes me about 3 weeks pregnant so very very early days. I called my GP thinking I would be offered a blood test to confirm pregnancy but actually was told it’s nothing to do with them and I need to make a self referral to the midwife. The midwife will not see anyone until they are at least 8 weeks for the booking appointment. I guess really I’m just after some guidance on what I do now? This is my first pregnancy so everything that’s happening is so very new and truth be told I’m terrified and have no idea what I am doing! Any advice or guidance is truly appreciated!

This sounds normal in the UK. What advice are you looking for? I guess the main thing would be to take folic acid everyday. Congratulations 😊

First of all, congratulations! It's a crazy time the early weeks. It's true the midwife will see you around 8 weeks and then your dating scan around 11/12 weeks. With my first pregnancy I decided to get a private scan at around 7 weeks as I had no symptoms (they soon came!).

Just take care of yourself
Eat and drink well , no smoking or alcohol
Get some rest and yes folic if you not already on it
Not all of these very early pregnancies will continue so just be cautious for another few weeks
Google what foods you should avoid ... raw egg, shellfish , certain yogurts and cheeses
Make contact with the midwife and she'll take you through it all
Congratulations Smile

Thank you all so much. Just felt a little bit left to it lol was expecting a little help or something from the doctor but never mind! If I am only about 3 weeks when does implantation happen or has it already happened for me to get a positive test? Xx

That would depend on your ovulation window ... implantation usually comes less than 10 days after conception ...
