Am I taking too many vitamins?!

Just after some advice please. I have a DD who will be 4 in November and in January 2019 I had a mc at 5 weeks. We've been ttc since then but nothing has happened and I'll be 40 in December. I had a transvaginal scan in February which shows the egg follicles are there and healthy. I was due to ovulate two days after my scan and the sonographer confirmed that from what she could see this was going to happen in the next couple of days. I always feel when I've ovulated and from which side (always the right). I had a blood test last month at CD21 which confirms that I am ovulating. The gynaecology department have said that for me no further action is required.
My hubby provided some semen for analysis a few days ago and he's due to get the results tomorrow. He's also the father of my DD and the mc baby.
I've recently started taking quite a few vitamins to help me:
Coq10 (to improve egg quality due to my age)
Vitamin C
Vitamin D
Folic acid (although I've been taking this for years)
Agnus cactus
Pregnacare Conception

Since the beginning of my last period I've had awful constipation and cramps. From what I've read online this can be due to Pregnacare Conception due to the iron content. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this, if I should stop taking any of the above vitamins, etc. I'm considering dropping the Pregnacare.
I'm currently in my fertile window and the last thing I feel like doing is dtd 🤦‍♀️😭

Thanks for reading my essay!

The important ones are vitamin D and folic acid. Do you really need the pregnacare too?

Hi @Tamalama I’m not sure if you are taking too many vitamins or not. Hope you don’t mind me asking but do you find you’ve noticed any difference by taking Agnus castus and Coq10 together? I currently take Agnus castus, folic acid and vitamin D. I started taking Agnus castus as I have long cycles, it has definitely made my cycles shorter. I’ve heard good things about Coq10 but didnt know I could take the two together?

@Tamalama if you're taking separate vitamin C, D and folic acid then you don't need the pregnacare. I'm pretty sure pregnacare also has some coq10 in it too but not as strong as a separate tablet

I followed a recurrent miscarriage ‘regime’ from Its starts with an Egg. I was taking about 16 tablets a day pre-conception! Some of them were multiples of the same thing, but it was about 16 in total.

I would suggest that if you are taking something like CoQ10, you read up on the best types and dosages, as it does differ. (And yes pregnacare contains a teeny tiny amount of it, but it’s negligible when you look at the doses you may be recommended to take).

But I religiously took it all, and am now almost 28 weeks pregnant after 3 miscarriages in a row last year. I now also take a low dose aspirin as well as pregnacare, a separate vitamin d and vitamin c and omega 3 and iron...

Pregnacare contains the recommended daily amount of vitamins C, D and folic acid so you don't need to take them separate as well, at the moment you are taking double the recommended daily amount of these. Vitamins can improve you health but they won't get you pregnant.

Have you tried ovulation tests and an app to help you work out the best times to have sex? I used the Ovia Fertility App with the Clear Blue Advanced Digital tests and conceived the second cycle. I discovered that I ovulate on CD12 not CD14 so no wonder I wasn't getting pregnant, we were having sex two days after I ovulated every month.

@Suki2020 if you don’t mind me asking, with the Angus cast is, folic acid and Vit D, what dosage of each do you take?

Suki2020 · 06/07/2020 20:49

@MrsLauraM 400 of folic acid 800mg Agnus castus and 400 vitamin D

Hi all, thank you for all your comments! So, I stopped taking the Pregnacare on Sunday and I now feel absolutely fine! I use opks so I know when I ov. I got my peak yesterday so we dtd then and we're going to dtd today and hopefully tomorrow. 🤞 hopefully that will be enough for this month!
