Folic Acid - Elongating Cycle/Irregular Cycle when TTC

Hey, first time poster here (although mumsnet has been my saviour in answering all those awkward questions in as long as I can remember)!

Me & the OH decided to start trying for a family recently. After doing some research, I started taking folic acid as advised, however it seems to have played havoc with my cycle length!

I have had a really regular 28 day cycle for the last 5/6 years, although after taking folic acid for around a month I didn’t get my period until day 38!

The following month we tried to ‘cover all bases’ by upping the anti to cover the time I would typically ovulate and the time I would ovulate if my cycle was again 38 days.

Does anyone have any experience of this? If so, does it eventually settle itself back down? I’m afraid it’s causing me to not ovulate at all? I don’t want to get to the point where I resent taking it because I realise how important it is, it’s just frustrating that I felt I had a really good handle on my cycle before and now everything’s up in the air! 😞

Thank you 😊
