Hello!

I've been reading loads on the importance of pre-conception nutrition and preparing your body. Some say 3 months before and I've seen some that say 6 months before.

I find myself trawling through threads on Mumsnet but wondered if there were any ladies planning to start TTC in the next few months and wanted a forum to chat about ways to prepare / excitement of it all etc.

I often find myself going on to my bf and mum and they're like ok ok! 😂

I've gone from 2 weddings next year to 6 because of all of the weddings that have had to be postponed.
Crazy times isnt it!

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 03/07/2020 19:12

Ah yes I'll get some Omega thank you!

So I had my call with the GP, told him I don't smoke, don't really drink and have a balanced diet with fruit and veg which he said was good. He's sent me for a blood test to check my folic and Vit D levels which I'm pleased about and contacted my consultant to see if my chemo would have had any long lasting damage.

Asked him about my septate uterus, he said yes increased rate of miscarriage, which has upset me, even though I knew. Also means higher chance of c-section than natural birthday because the baby wouldn't have much room. But I've been referred to a gynaecologist, depending on the severity there are ops that can correct it I think.

Que me spending all evening googling septate uterus'

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I'm glad you had a productive call even if it was a bit scary to hear. At least you can go in completely armed with information now and the dr is paying attention and sending you for the tests that may help! I've got my fingers crossed for you!

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 03/07/2020 19:21

Thank you! @OneStepOneStumble I'm sure all will be Ok my mum was like, women all over the world have this and have babies and she's right I mustn't overthink it. 🥰

I can chime in on the whole wedding/pregnancy/bridesmaid issue.

My bridesmaid is my sister in law and our wedding is 29th Dec and she started TTC in Jan. She didn't say anything to me about until she got a positive test. Baby is due 30th Nov, do she's going to miss my hen do (if there is one)
Obviously I am super excited to be an Auntie but we did have to have an awkward conversation.... she said she'd still be happy to do it but I know she won't feel like at the time. If she goes 2weeks over and has a c section she won't even be able to come because they live 4 hours away.

I would suggest talking to the bride if you are TTC and it could interfere with the wedding. Chances are they'll be really happy for you and will give you chance to talk about whether you are both still happy with the decision. If they've not bought dress etc you can think about styles that will suit if you are pregnant.

Although with our change of plans hopefully I'm the one that's pregnant at my wedding! 😂

PileofToss · 03/07/2020 19:38

@CookieMonster3001 ohh I can just imagine! I bet they’re gorgeous though. I’m not going to worry about telling my friend unless I actually get pregnant, it’s too much hassle to even think about 😂

@Nate1 I can’t imagine this particular friend will ever understand it, she doesn’t even like being around her own nieces!

@sunflowersaremyfav93 fingers crossed for a lot of pregnant bridesmaids next year!!

CookieMonster3001 · 03/07/2020 21:31

@sunflowersaremyfav93 some of it might have been hard to hear but at least you know now for sure and can manage expectations. Everything crossed for you

@butterfly5291 100% agree a convo is so important especially if your due date is so close to the wedding dates. I will probably tell my sister if we fall pregnant as early as possible. Hard to know what to do, because I certainly dont want to tell anyone when we TTC. Our family cant keep secrers to save lives. Trying to plan it so that its early days when her wedding arrives anyway so hoping it wouldnt interfere with any plans!

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 03/07/2020 21:34

@PileofToss fingers crossed!!

@butterfly5291 You are right and me and my bf told his sister we were going to start TTC before they'd even set their date so she knows and my friend know having said that for my friends hen the maid of hon wants us to all go Barcelona (each paying a bit extra for the bride) is it super unreasonable if I don't go? I just don't k is if I'll be pregnant by the , if I am I won't want to go and beside all that I'd rather save the money 🙈 is that bad?

Hello! Mind if I join? Thinking of starting to try after Christmas, but trying to get as prepared as possible in advance. I have some weight to lose and I want to get fitter too!

Nate1 · 04/07/2020 08:19

Hi @MsQueenInTheNorth I‘m totally with you on the ‚getting fitter‘ part of preparing for ttc. I tried some cardio workout on YouTube last night but apperently got sick after which might be because of my coil removal a few days ago (I feel like I lost quite some blood..sorry if tmi). But it‘s also possible I just overdid it :D. What do you plan on doing to get fitter?

@sunflowersaremyfav93 personally I wouldn‘t commit to any holiday plans at the moment (covid..) Maybe that’s just how I feel? But besides that money seems to be a good reason. I hope they‘ll understand.

@PileofToss I think you shouldn‘t feel bad at all because you are pregnant at a wedding. I mean the two who are getting married are in love and should count themselves lucky to have you there with them on their special day.. But I do get the point of telling everybody involved as early as possible and comfortable for you.

I remember that we were talking about some blogs and shows and I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoy watching ‚TheEggWisperer‘ on YouTube lately - it‘s always informative - well for me anyway :).

butterfly5291 · 04/07/2020 08:21

@sunflowersaremyfav93 it's not bad at all. Loads of my friends aren't coming away for all sorts of reasons. I can't imagine anyone booking hen dos at the minute but just say to her you can't afford to go?

PurBal · 04/07/2020 08:23

I'd love to join! Currently trying to arrange for my coil to be removed. COVID put a stop to that. Will follow with interest.

butterfly5291 · 04/07/2020 08:37

@PurBal welcome ☺️ I am also in the process of trying to get my coil removed. Have your GP surgery said they aren't doing it? Try sexual health clinics too. My GP surgery and sexual health clinic aren't doing it but another GP surgery was so I had an appointment there yesterday. She couldn't get it out though (but my strings are missing) I have a gynaecologist appointment this morning but luckily I get Bupa health care through work.

butterfly5291 · 04/07/2020 08:37

Oh and have you started taking folic acid?

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 04/07/2020 09:52

Yeah I agree - with the Covid stuff the last thing I'd want to do is go abroad and with buying the dress, shoes hair makeup, staying there for the night as well it's all
Going to be quite expensive anyway.

Also - just spent all night getting myself worked up over this septate uterus the stuff on google is just awful, women having multiple miscarriages 😭 I'm really worried about it now. I have private healthcare through work so I'm going to call them and see if I'm covered for it. There's a procedure that they can do to 'fix' it but I don't think the nhs do it until you've had 3 miscarriages?

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 04/07/2020 09:53

@msqueenofthenorth I'm with you in getting fitter, I really need to start. My GP said even a 30 min walk a day is good. Are you taking any supplements?

OP posts:
OneStepOneStumble · 04/07/2020 10:38

Oh no @sunflowersaremyfav93 ! Step away from the google! The worst stories are on there and much rarer are the success stories. Don't panic yourself lovely.

butterfly5291 · 04/07/2020 11:30

Woooohoooo! The gynaecologist got my coil out!!!

Now the fun starts! God knows when I'm going to start ovulating!

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 04/07/2020 11:32

@OneStepOneStumble I know, I really wish I hadn't looked it up it's really got to me. I'm going to phone my private healthcare and see if I'm covered and if I am do I have to pay anything towards it.

@butterfly5291 omg amazing!! So as soon as you start ovulating will you start TTC? Very exciting!!

OP posts:
butterfly5291 · 04/07/2020 11:48

@sunflowersaremyfav93 yeah we're going to start trying from now I guess. Going to buy some OPKs now.
I'm so sorry you're dealing with the septate uterus, call your private healthcare and hopefully you can get some peace xx

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 04/07/2020 13:41

@butterfly5291 Ooh how exciting! Keep us updated on it all, exciting to think you could be pregnant soon. I just called my healthcare and anything to do with fertility isn't covered which is a shame. So I ended up booking a private appointment for next Friday anyway, £220 for the initial 30 mins consultation, ouch! 😩 hopefully I can see her for peace of mind and then swap back over to the NHS.

OP posts:
Nate1 · 04/07/2020 14:04

@butterfly5291 I ovulated today - or at least had an LH surge so an egg is coming up in the next 48 hours :D Anyway not trying yet but I just wanted to tell you this since my coil removal was only 7 days ago which means my cycle just went on anyway despite some spotting and heavy bleeding. I‘m amazed by my body :D

@sunflowersaremyfav93 sorry to hear about the septate uterus. Google is horrible. :( Wish you all the best.

butterfly5291 · 04/07/2020 14:23

I know...I've been worried for forever that I'll struggle to get pregnant and now going to find out!

My health insurance didn't cover fertility and contraception but because I've got endometriosis they got round it. Maybe you could too because bits a pre existing condition?

butterfly5291 · 04/07/2020 14:25

@Nate1oh wow! I didn't know you could ovulate that quickly...glad I've just bought some femometer opks!

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 04/07/2020 14:56

Thanks ladies 🙁 I feel like the excitement has gone and worry about multiple miscarriages has just kicked in. Hopefully I get more answers soon. My mum and bf think I should wait and see if NHS can help because it's a lot of money for just a 30min initial consultation. Do you guys think I should wait for NHS too? X
