EWCM or OPKs - what do you trust?

Would you trust your body's ovulation signals or an Opk?

I had a smiley face in the afternoon on CD8 (the pink CB kind that only tests for LH). But no EWCM at all.

CD10 I had a smiley and strong positive (took the stick out and it was way darker than the control). And I did have EWCM.

What would you trust? Your body or your OPK?

I would trust your body, I have read that sometimes if you get two positive Opk that it can sometimes be your body amping up for ovulation then it doesn't happen so your body tries again. Hope that makes sense. X

I'd trust the result on CD10 as both signs were there (as in positive opk and the ewcm) I've actually just posted about conflicting results I've had on OPKs today. Had a positive on CB but Negative on another brand. I've only had a small amount of ewcm and don't feel like I'm ovulating so I suspect cb isn't correct. Maybe the levels that cb pick up are very low/are more sensitive and that's why it's picking up a very early surge? No idea really!

Thank you to both of you! I think we can trust when we are ovulating, I just don't understand why I'd get the smiley face. Wonder if it could be too strong urine/too dilute/reader memory (the the pink one has a memory)/not a long enough urine hold.

In any event, spotting a teeny tiny bit today, 5/6 dpo. Feel like this always happens and therefore AF is on way 😩

@smoby what is your post called? I'll take a look...

I think it might have something to do with the memory reader. Maybe it can read when the lh is building so it goes positive a couple of days before it's a "true" peak. Just speculating of course!

Do you always spot from 5/6dpo? Have you been checked for low progesterone? I've read before that early spotting can be caused by that. You can get medication for it.

@selina37 I agree and would say the two signs together would be your positive :) I'm on cycle 3 off the pill and on cycle 2 I had EWCM for a couple of days around CD12, but no positive OPK, and then again from CD30 for 3/4 days and a positive OPK. Your body usually produces EWCM several days before ovulation, so it could just be that your body was getting ready from CD10, in my case I think it's the haywire hormones post pill causing more than one patch of EWCM x

selina37 · 02/07/2020 12:00

@smoby yes been checked and it's all fine, my body just seems to be acutely responsive to slight hormone changes... well that's how it seems to me, my moods certainly correspond!

Yeah you might be right, the memory reader may bring up a false result.

@MintGreenLife thank you, well we DTD on CD10 and CD11. Hopefully that was enough.
I don't half get despondent though half way through the two week wait 😩
