Caffeine fix and ttc

Is anyone else having trouble laying off the caffeine while trying to conceive? I don't have a lot of vices, but coffee and tea are definitely hard to give up! Or do you just not worry about this during ttc?

I reduced my caffeine intake a bit just so it wouldn’t be so much of a shock when I got pregnant so from 5 or so cups of tea a day I reduced down to 2 (3 some days)

I reduced a bit slowly so that it's not a lot to give up if we are successful. I gradually replaced my daytime cups of tea with decaf. Still having one Nespresso first thing though. This is within the guidelines for the max amount of caffeine you can have. I'm kind of used to the decaf now and I think I probably sleep better now I only have caffeine first thing!

Thanks @user1493413286 and @Poppy10121 - is it not important to reduce caffeine while ttc as well? For some reason I thought it was. Currently having one coffee in the morning and then a half caffeine/half decaf after lunch, finding it hard but worth it as hopefully will be pregnant sooner rather than later!

I don't drink tea or coffee but Pepsi Max used to be my weakness! I switched to cans from 2l bottles as I can then track what I'm having better, and I reduced it down then limited when I could have it (eg I had to have drunk so much water before I was allowed it). I don't have more than 2 cans in a day but don't have it every day now so fingers crossed it helps

Have a coffee!

I took the view that my body would probably be in shock if I gave up caffeine, so I decided to just limit myself to one coffee and one tea a day.

@Aw326 the NHS guidelines say that even when pregnant you can have 1 coffee a day: www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/pregnancy/should-i-limit-caffeine-during-pregnancy/

So I'm trying to stick to that while TTC as well and then I might cut out the one coffee completely but not quite ready for it yet!
