I'm very new to Mumsnet so please bear with me!

My partner and I have been having unprotected sex since November and want a child. Our wishes have become even stronger over the last two months after numerous negative tests ..

He has two children from a previous relationship and I'm starting to question what's wrong with me.

My periods are very irregular but we have sex daily so there's no way of missing an ovulation window.

I have now bought some pregnacare before conception tablets that include folic acid as well as ovulation tests which I will be doing daily ..

It's so disheartening. Do I get a fertility test or do I let Mother Nature do her job?

Hi there

Sorry you are getting disheartened and I know it’s hard each month. Try not to be too hard on yourself, most couples can take up to a year to conceive and the majority will conceive within 2 years.

If you are under the age of 35 with no known problems a doctor won’t start to investigate until the year has passed (6 months if you are over 35)

Ovulation tests are a great way to get to know your cycle and definitely take folic acid daily. Do you use a cycle trapper app like Ovia - it can really help to make sense of your cycle and when you ovulate. You can track every twinge symptom so you can start to see patterns. If you have a fitbit I also track my resting heart rate as this tracks with my cycle.

You are doing all you can at the moment so try to be kind to yourself

I understand the desperation OP! You're still in the normal range of time it takes to conceive at the moment. It took me 8 months to fall pregnant twice. I paid for extensive private fertility tests after I miscarried my first pregnancy and DH and I are very fertile and healthy. A lot is down to time and luck.
