Restless legs and ttc

I've had restless leg syndrome for years and have been taking prescribed pramipexole for about 2 years to help with it. All the leaflets say you can't take the tablets if ttc or pregnant but then my GP said actually I may be able to still take them if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Has anyone still taken pramipexole or something similar for restless legs or if they've come off the tablets is there anything they can recommend to use instead? The thought of not taking them is scaring me to Be honest as without them I'm a bit of a mess Confused thanks! X

hi @Baker0104!

I too suffer from restless legs (only really at bedtime, but if you've never had them it's so hard to explain to someone else just how annoying they are!) and I have been taking Urbanol (I'm in South Africa so not sure about brand names in the UK, but this is a form of Clobazam) for a few years. I'm now doing IVF here and my Dr said it was fine to carry on taking it while we were trying, but as soon as I get a positive pregnancy result we might have to look at other options.

A friend of mine has trouble sleeping and takes valerian root and I wondered if that might help me. Given that it's natural I figured it would be fine for pregnancy, however reading the little leaflet they say to check with your Dr. Also Google is saying it might not be safe - grrr. It's a herb!

Have you found any other recommendations?

@loulamay hiya!
Haven't found anything concrete yet, I spoke to my gp yesterday and she is going to have a chat with their on site pharmacist and decide what to do about my medications (not just for the restless legs) so I should have an answer in about 2 weeks.
It's so frustrating isn't it! Just the constant twitching! My boyfriend wakes up covered in bruises if I don't have my medicine 😂
Good luck with your IVF! Xx
