Could I be pregnant?

So Tuesday (23rd Jun) I started my period. First two days bad cramps nothing out of the ordinary for me apart from normally the blood is usually red until day 3ish. Although this time it was red when it first started then it was brown and by day 2-3 it was dark brown and kinda gooey (sorry if that sounds gross) and also day 3 was quite light and hardly touched my pad (normally it’s very heavy and normally fills a pad) By day four it was just brown discharge and pretty much ended by the evening. It normally lasts five/six days for me.

Today I wiped and noticed a very light rose pink colour on the paper, I’ve never had this before and not sure if this is normal. I did have sex beforehand which I frequently do and have never experienced this before.

I had unprotected sex about between 9-6 days before my period started, but obviously my period came so I’m a bit confused. Only other thing I can think of is that I’m unwell with a sinus and throat infection at the moment but doubt it’s that.

The soonest I can get a test is Wednesday when I get paid as I’m skint at the moment.

Is it likely I could be pregnant? Any help and advice would be amazing.

Also just to add, I’ve just started getting very very full cramps. Like a period cramp but very dull. Also sorry if I sound silly about all this, I’m autistic and find it hard to understand things.

So your period was different from your usual period is that correct? Shorter and different kinds of bloods. Does it normally follow a regular kind of pattern?

You may just have had an irregular period. If it was 6-9 days after you had unprotected sex, this timing would fit with implantation bleeding. Though it may not be, it’s possible to be an irregular period....there is no way of telling with these things until you get your next period or a positive test. So nothing is certain at this point, I know that that is difficult.

If you are strapped for cash, hold off as long as you can to test. I would test any sooner than the day of your next missed period. Firstly your period might arrive. Also you need to wait till the HCG levels would be high enough to test positive. HCG is the pregnancy hormone that supports pregnancy and shows up on urine tests. There are early detection tests, but they are only about 50% effective. It is very possible to test negative before your next missed period or even after for a few days, and then later get a positive test - if the HCG levels are not yet high enough. So if you only want to test once , rather than keep spending money, wait till a few days after your missed period.

There are cheaper bumper packs of tests you can get in boots, that are little strips. though the bigger plastic wand tests by the pregnancy brands like first responce and clear blue, are more reliable and easier to read.

So my advice would be to wait as long as you can and use one of these.
