Faint Lines, Evap Lines & BFNs!

Hi, I've never posted before so I'm hoping someone will reply, but been silently stalking the boards for a while whilst TTC.

Been TTC for 9 months, have an almost 2 year old that happened without much trying! My cycles are usually 23 days on the dot, during the last 9 months I've had 2 x 35 day cycles which I am almost certain were chemical pregnancies due to faint lines, symptoms etc. All other cycles 23 days.

Sort of losing hope now, but to this cycle... I'm currently on CD 29, so almost one week late for me. I don't know when I ovulated this month as I decided to 'relax' about TTC (has only added to the anxiety!) but I usually ovulate around CD12. Despite not testing I felt ovulation pain around day 12, which I usually do feel spot on.

Between CD 20-23 I had lots of pulling pains in the pelvis and cramping and was delighted when AF didn't follow of course. Similar feelings to last pregnancy.

I tested with CB at days 19&20 which was obviously too early, BFNs of course. Tested again with CB and FRER once each day with FMU on 23, 24 and 25. Day 25 turned into a faint positive a couple of hours AFTER, so I'm aware of evap lines but it didn't look like an evap line so I got cautiously excited.

Managed to wait (!) until day 27 to test again with CB and FRER and got two BFNs with the same FMU. Was gutted about this because I was hoping my 'possible' faint positive would have had 48 hours to go full blown BFP. Blew my other CB and FRER that evening in desperation and another two BFNs.

Bought some boots test strips as I have spend a small fortune on tests by now (why do we do it...!) and have tested on CD 28 and 29 with FMU. 28 was a BFN and 29 was a BFN but turned very faint positive a few hours later. I know I need to just bin them and not look, but I kept the day before and there was no evap line there.

My question is, can evap lines appear on some tests and not others??
And if they aren't evap lines, has anyone had a faint evap line/positive that took a long road of BFNs to turn positive?

I am now so late OH keeps saying he's hopeful, but the BFNs are destroying me and the worry of another chemical from that faint CB on day 25. Really hoping someone can help with the clarity on evap lines etc.

Thanks x

Hi @lamby12 just wanted to say that in my experience they definitely can appear on some tests and not others and for that reason I personally I wouldn't consider it a positive test unless it was positive within the recommended time frame but I know that every woman and every pregnancy is different. I really hope that this is your month for a BFP :)

Csari · 26/06/2020 23:28

Oh I meant to add that I have seen others say they had tests turn positive outside of the time frame and were pregnant.

Didn't want to come across as negative, I just know how hard it is when you keep questioning everything and thought I'd mention that I'd had some tests turn positive and others not, all from the same cycle when I wasn't pregnant.

Hi @csari thanks so much for your reply.

That's really useful to know, it's so difficult to distinguish an evap line you're right I should just stick to the time and throw it away... it only makes this already difficult time more confusing! I wish we'd all just get a clear BFP the second we were pregnant.

Thanks for hoping for me. I keep thinking while ever there's no AF I'm still in but I'm a bit haunted by the worry of another chemical. So difficult to relax with the uncertainty.

X

Thanks for clarifying @csari I didn't take it that way anyway. That's really useful. With my 2 year old I can remember having a couple of weeks of uncertainty with testing, but because we didn't really spend long TTC (second month) I didn't really get into all the detail and can't remember - we had patience back then!!! Not anymore... it's so hard isn't it. X

Ps - another BFN this morning so it's not looking good. Sad
