Ovulation test results not matching?

Got a static smiley face on clear blue advanced ovulation test last night

Me and DH have been DTD for a few days including yesterday as my app said yesterday I would ovulate and although the result was late I did!

However, I used cheap ovulation tests off amazon around 11:30am and they’re negative I thought you’re supposed to ovulate for 24 hours after positive result. I had used the clear blue around 5pm and got flashing smiley so between 5 and 9pm I must’ve ovulated.

Will I have only briefly ovulated or is this normal? Is it just different tests having different results? Going to try again later and not drink any fluids (had 2L already today)

Sorry if I come across quite dim, this is only our second month w/o contraceptive and our first official month TTC so this has all confused me beyond belief!

They're only positive during your surge! You normally ovulate 12-36 hours after that surge so DTD today too! I used to have a positive for 36 hours and then ovulate later, but my friend used to have 4 hours of positive OPKs then negative! So it's completely normal, just DTD today and tomorrow to try catch that egg! Xx

@marauder1994 this has really calmed me down! As I tested at 9pm and then if I tested at 11.30am and received negative results that’s around 14 hours so it’s quite possible I have just ovulated in that time.

Thank you for the advice! We DTD twice after that result he’ll be delighted when I tell him we need to repeat today!

In my chemical I had a positive clearblue from 3pm-8pm then negatives that night! Still caught the egg, unfortunately was a CP due to not being on aspirin - but still! Don't worry it's normal! just DTD haha zzz

@marauder1994 thank you very much! I’m calm now and not worrying that my egg(s) just randomly disappear! I didn’t know the test was for the surge before ovulation which is quite helpful to know as it explains the negative half a day later
