We have just hit the 6 month mark of TTC with our second, while I know how long it takes to get pregnant it took 9 months with our first. I just find every month when my period turns up really hard. Any tips on how to get over the disappointment?

Sorry I don’t have any tips, didn’t want to read and run. I’m in the same boat TTC number 1 and entering my 10th cycle and I get the same disheartening feeling everytime af shows up. I just keep thinking next month is my month and hopefully I’ll be right at some point lol. Hang in there x

Hi lovely. I have no real tips. We're 18 months in now and my mood took a dip for a while. I'm doing a little better these days but still find the disappointment of af turning up overwhelming for a day or so. Then I just focus on the month ahead. I like to feel in control and this lack of control is frustrating. I wish I had tips... Don't do a pregnancy test before Af is late is my only big one I guess!! Expensive and pointless in the end...

Thanks @Timetotry123 and @Vea1601 it's just hard when I see people fall pregnant before me. I know we are lucky in that I have a 2 year old but still it's hard. Yep I took a pregnancy test 2 days before AF last month, not a good idea.

I haven’t ever tested because I don’t want the added heartbreak of a chemical pregnancy so I would rather not know so I will wait until af is late.

I find it really hard seeing others fall pregnant too. My friends now ttc and I know she'll get pregnant before me. And I worry ill feel really jealous. Doesn't help I work in sexual health so I see people fall pregnant accidentally all the time

I've just had my 8th cycle of ttc #1. I don't know the answer I'm afraid! Keep talking to your DP/ DH about how you feel. Don't bottle it up.

Hey. I'm on my 9th month TTC and it is getting really frustrating so I totally understand. I agree with the above that it is good to speak to partner as I didnt for a while and then just had a major hissy fit one day about he he doesnt care, and he just had no idea how I was feeling. So now we talk about it and it does help. I'm trying a ferti lily cup this month as my friend was TTC for over a year and then fell pregnant first month of trying it. We will see!

lil854 · 24/06/2020 15:17

@CAG14 what's a fertility cup? Luckily I have my husband on board and he is brilliant.

@lil854 that's good he is on board from day 1. It is called Ferti Lily and you can buy from boots, amazon etc. You put it up you after sex to keep the sperm up there and close to the cervix. It isnt glamorous but it is easy enough to use as I've tried it already once. Link below
