Hi all, I had a HyCoSy this morning as we have been TTC for a year and I was starting to worry a bit. I had my AMH and follicles checked last week and all was above average for my age (30). Was expecting a walk in the park and to be simply reassured and sent back to doing the deed.
However, the HyCoSy has revealed a very rare variant called a unicornuate uterus. Basically one half of my uterus didn't form back when I was a 6 week old foetus. I just have one Fallopian tube and need an MRI to confirm all of this and look for kidney abnormalities which are common with this condition.
This has been an enormous shock to me. I'm a doctor and have been through the literature while bawling my head off today and am aware of the risks of miscarriage, preterm labour, breech etc etc. Not sure if being medically trained is a blessing or a curse in this situation.
I think we'll be starting IVF in the coming couple of months as my husbands morphology is suboptimal as well.
Hoping to connect with others with unicornuate uteri (unicorns?!) or other uterine abnormalities, or to hear some good news stories as feeling very, very low as it's taking a long time to conceive and will be a very rocky road (potentially) even if/when I do.
