Anyone had bad experience with One Step OPKs?

Hi!

2nd cycle TTC. First cycle had no positive OPKs. Currently on CD11. Started to get a line on CD8. CD9 fainter line and then nothing yesterday and today (although can see a very faint one - probably indent).
TMI (sorry) but I had EWCM this morning which I didn't have last cycle so something is obviously happening.

Just wondering if people have had bad experiences with the One Step tests and if you could recommend another brand that works well for you. Or am I just not getting an LH surge, therefore not ovulating??

Thanks in advance 😊

In my experience I found them really reliable and have got pregnant twice using them. I've used them three times per day. How long are your cycles? Were you on hormonal contraception before you started Rev?

Nazz10 · 23/06/2020 15:23

@Chanel05 oh wow that's great that they worked for you. Yes I was previously on the combined pill. Stopped taking it middle of May. 1st cycle was 27 days. This is why I wasn't too worried in my first cycle but just concerned that it started showing a line and now pretty much nothing.

Hi, I use CB advanced digital and the One Steps. Use CB in the morning (as per the instructions) and the the One Step later in the day. I find that they work well but I also have days when I have no line, darker line and the back to very light line again and then could suddenly go to positive. I don't have a steady gradual line like some people do. I do normally get a positive eventually (although I do have long cycles) and I know that they work as my CB always matches up with them. How long are your cycles and how often are you testing?

Nazz10 · 23/06/2020 15:39

@smoby thank you for your info. My first cycle off the pill was 27 days. I just tested once a day throughout.
This cycle.. when I got that slight line on my first day of testing I tested the same time of day again for the next 2 days. Because it was negative again, I decided to test 3 times today to see if it's the time of day that's making a difference but still nothing on all of them

I just read on the amazon reviews that someone was using them to avoid pregnancy and ended up pregnant with twins 😳

@nazz10 I use the One Step ones and they work great for me, I found that I ovulated later in my cycle compared with what the apps were predicting. I have a 28/29 day regular cycle and got my peak OPK on CD 18 which is like I say mugger later than expected. I would deffinetly test a few times a day. I test with FMU then again between 3pm to 6pm.

You mention you started to get a line CD8 and 9, you still could be way off Ovulation, I get lines from CD 11 but until they are dark/darker than the control line then you probably aren't ovulating. Good luck x

Nazz10 · 23/06/2020 15:51

@dogmam that's good that they work for you. Do you fine that FMU test is accurate or does it give you similar results to later in the day? The instructions say to test between 10-6 so have been doing them in the evening before today.
It's quite hard for me to test at the same time each day as I work 12 hour shifts 3 days a week. If FMU works then that would be amazing for me.

Yeah I know I'm still early in the cycle but just thought that a faint line would still be there if it was there a few days ago

@Nazz10 yes I'd definitely suggest testing a couple if times a day if you can. I appreciate its much harder when you do shift work. Prior to lockdown when I was at work I had to take the OPKs with me and do them in the work toilets - which wasn't great but it meant I had an accurate assessment. My actual surge is very short so I would definitely miss it if I only tested once.

20viona · 23/06/2020 16:42

I used them and they worked first month to help us get pregnant so I'd say really reliable.

Chanel05 · 23/06/2020 21:49

I actually found the one step opks reliable for my for fmu! It can take a little while to get in a cycle pattern after coming of the pill, up to a year, so keep going with it.

Nazz10 · 29/06/2020 16:59

Hi ladies,
Thank you for all of your helpful responses.
So I took the plunge and bought another brand. Got positives and peaks with them at the end of last week but no positives with the One Step ones (tested with both at the same time just to compare). There was definitely a bold line there but not quite as dark as the control line. So I've decided to ditch them and use the other brand I bought. (Plus with the new ones you only have to wait 3 minutes as opposed to 10 mins which makes life way more easier when waiting for definitive results).
Maybe it's just my urine that doesn't work well with One Step 😆

That's interesting @Nazz10 what other brand did you buy?

Nazz10 · 29/06/2020 18:15

@smoby yeah it's weird isn't it. I'm now using Wondfo - ordered from amazon

@Nazz10 I agree that it's good you can read the results on 3 mins. It's a bit tedious waiting the 10 mins on the One Step

zippityzip · 30/06/2020 16:53

You have to wait ten minutes???? I've been peeing on them and chucking them in the bin almost immediately because there is never a second bloody line.
I'm going to POAS now. Ffs. Thank the lord I found this post.

Nazz10 · 30/06/2020 17:19

@zippityzip haha yeah! Well that's what my instructions say anyway

@Nazz10 I've literally convinced myself I'm not ovulating. I've bought Agnus Castus and Myo Inositol to be delivered tomorrow. I'm DC10 the OPK I've just done had a faint faint faint second line. I've literally just been chucking them away after a minute because it's blank. You've actually saved my sanity.

Nazz10 · 30/06/2020 17:26

@zippityzip aww I'm glad this thread helped you 😃
