Attempting a calm TTC - join me?!

I'm attempting this month to ditch my apps, my thermometer, my OPKs and therefore my obsessive POAS from approx 6DPO.

Instead I will start today from CD 12 with my ovulation pattern ranging from cd16-25 and I'm going to DTD every other day from today up until approx CD 32.

AF arrives anywhere from CD 32-40 so I think I'm playing it safe enough to replenish sperm, to 'relax' and also to ensure I'm having enough sex.

Am I crazy by downing my tools?!

This is a MUCH wanted baby two and after a very smooth TTC baby one I am not used to it taking the best part of a year...

Anyone want to join me before I cave and dig out the OPKs and the app and scrutinise every movement!

I like your style! I'm only going by Fitbit Callander only because I have it on. Otherwise I'm just going to bang it out throughout the month if this month doesn't happen for me😬

zippityzip · 23/06/2020 20:34

Bang it out throughout the month 😂

1940s · 23/06/2020 21:27

Haha I've had a few months banging it out when I got 7 flashing smileys in a row. On day 8 I told DH to lay back and think of Rita Ora haha

I'm hoping this isn't the magical pill of 'the minute you relax it happens' but rather one less thing on my plate and measuring etc.

Do you think I'm risking it though by every other day, is it a risk of not having sex on day of ov? Usually once I get the static smiley / positive OPK I do three / four days in a row. And have sex for every flashing smiley too. So at the very least 5 straight days... maybe DH needs time for the sperm to repopulate?!

Aarrrggghhhh if you'd have told me in my teens sex would be a chore and that pregnancy isn't easy I'd have laughed at you.

I’m with you and attempting the same relaxed approach this month. Already freaking out a bit at having no control but really think I need to chill!

User1393 · 23/06/2020 21:55

Can I join you? In the same boat! Very fortunate to conceive quickly with my first and now really would love a second but taking a lot longer than I expected!

Hi @kinder and @user welcome!

Yes I already am wondering if I'm being foolish by downing tools and giving myself a 50% shot at landing on Ovulation day.

I won't however miss the stress / hope / torture from 6dpo. BecUse my cycles are a little irregular when I get to cd 30 this month I could be anywhere from 1DPO to 10dpo so it will be nice to not obsess about POAS. I will just wait it out this month.

I may also give my DH my stash of FRERs as they are my expensive habit.

I know in theory having sex every other day during fertile time is still giving us a good chance.

I'm just so shocked that we're struggling for baby two....

Hopefully we can all get through at least one month stress free with no tracking...surely got to help in some respects but I am worried about missed opportunity!!

How's everyone getting on? Calm?

OP posts:
Kinder19 · 08/07/2020 09:04

Yes staying very calm so far about TTC as I have a lot of other things to stress about this month. Couldn’t even say what cd I am...not been properly trying like normal, just every few days. How are you getting on? X

1940s · 08/07/2020 11:56

Glad you're calm @Kinder19!

I've been tracking on my app just adding my 'heart' every other day.

Whilst I'm not actively symptom spotting, I took note of EWCM and also my typical crampy ovulation pain the last 48 hours. So whilst I'm calm I still recognise that maybe today is 1DPO. I was hoping I'd be completely unaware to avoid any 2ww anxiety! My cycles range anywhere from 28-41 days

In the past I’ve found even if I’m aware of cycle days if you just keep “trying” every few days throughout it takes your mind off the wait and covers all bases if you do happen to ovulate late.

Good luck xx
