Just wanting people opinions on if they think I'm having twins? so I'm 13dpo but have had a strong positive line since 7dpo so la week before my period was due. I've so many strong pregnancy symptoms.. very sore tender breasts, exhaustion, night time nausea, mouth ulcers, heart burn and sweating! My mother had fraternal twins and her grandmother had two sets. I just have a feeing.. this is my 2nd pregnancy and I didn't have any symptoms till 6 weeks woth my first.
TIA

Ps pic included is my 7dpo test

Am I having twins?

Impossible to tell from a test and symptoms as every pregnancy is different but you can apparently only carry twins over from the mums side so it sounds like you’re in with a good chance! X

huntercakex · 19/06/2020 13:40

Haha yeah I know it's impossible to tell from a test I was only showing how strong it was that early. Yeah I think so too.. suppose I'll just have to wait until 12 week scan 🙂 xx

Wow that's a strong positive. Congratulations

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 19/06/2020 15:36

I've had an ultra strong positive very early twice - once was twins, and the other wasn't Confused. I was very shocked that the second one wasn't as the line was even earlier and darker than when I'd been pregnant with twins.

You might have ovulated earlier than you thought.

huntercakex · 19/06/2020 18:07

Thank you.
Ahh yeah maybe I was going off my Flo app which is usually spot on but I suppose I'll not know until 12 week scan! I just can't shake the thought of twins 😂 x

You can get an early test to see earlier.

emvy · 19/06/2020 19:15

Maybe you are! In my first pregnancy I was completely oblivious and naive to everything but just had this feeling that I was having twins. I was right. Symptoms were strong very early but I didn’t attribute that to it being twins at the time, just on reflection. Basically, I do think you just sometimes get that feeling. I’ve since had 3 more pregnancies, never had the feeling again and have not had another twin pregnancy. Who knows but it’s exciting all the same! Bring on the 12 week scan!

Lillygolightly · 19/06/2020 19:15

I had very strong lines from 6/7 dpo with DD2 and obviously she is a singleton.

With my first pregnancy I had intense pregnancy symptoms including HPG I had a proper bump despite being young and very slim. Still only a singleton, though that pregnancy never made it to term.

I have a friend who is currently pregnant with twins and so far has had less pregnancy symptoms than with her first who was a singleton.

This doesn’t mean your not pregnant with twins, it’s just that strong lines and lots of symptoms early on are not necessarily an indicator of a multiple pregnancy.

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 19/06/2020 19:28

Sorry for abrupt message - toddler was being a dickhead so I just pressed send 😂

If you look on groupon you might be able to find a good deal for an ultrasound near you.

8-9 weeks is a good time to go.

The epu scanned me at 6 weeks and could see identical twins (I mc'd later though)

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 19/06/2020 19:31

Similar to others - 1pg with strong line, bad morning sickness - singleton

Next pg with strong line but surprisingly few symptoms, could still go for a run - twins.

Go figure!

From what I’ve read @huntercakex twins usually skip a generation so as you say your great grandmother had twins and then your mother. It’s not impossible, of course, but it’s more likely that your children will have twins.

Hope you get the outcome you want.

huntercakex · 22/06/2020 09:55

Hi thanks everyone for your opinions.
Will probably just have to wait until 12 week scan. And no twins don't skip a generation they skip the male if you look it up x

I was vomiting before my period was due with one baby, DS and continued for months. My DD got a 2-3 weeks on her test. She was further on and it was twins. If you want twins, I hope you are lucky. They are a joy.

They don't "skip" the male. Twins happen when a woman releases two eggs, or when one egg splits into two. Nothing to do with the father. However, a man can pass on the genetic propensity of releasing more than one egg to his daughter.

Not everyone who has this gene has twins. Some people release two eggs occasionally without having the gene. Obviously the more pregnancies the more likely you are to conceive twins. So it might seem like "they skip a generation".

Buckingham1988 · 22/06/2020 10:33

I never took pregnancy test as had fertility treatment however had regular levels checked from 4 weeks.
With dt my levels were double that of ds1, my symptoms started earlier with dt. I was bigger much earlier with dt. I knew before I had my scan at 6 weeks it was probably twins (just had a feeling things were different).

PetraRabbit · 22/06/2020 11:53

About twins skipping a generation....this wouldn't apply in your case. I think they do often skip a generation but that is where it's carried on the dad's side- because the tendency to over-ovulate passes from grandmother to her son, who obviously can't over-ovulate but carries the gene into his daughter, her granddaughter.
Good luck if that's what you'd like!

PetraRabbit · 22/06/2020 11:56

Sorry I think you understood the twin thing better than me!

SinkGirl · 22/06/2020 11:57

My line on the day my period was due was so strong that the control line was basically grey. I have no idea if that was an indicator but I was having twins.

Sounds like you have a strong genetic predisposition so there’s a good chance

huntercakex · 22/06/2020 13:00

What I meant is.. fraternal twins are genetic and run in families. So can be passed down to daughters and granddaughters but obviously skip the male as they don't ovulate

Oh .I seeSmile , yes of course males don't ovulate.
AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 23/06/2020 10:43

Identical twins aren't genetic but some families seem prone to them. There was x2 sets in my nan's family and lots in previous generations

Shinygoldbauble · 23/06/2020 10:48

I had very strong positives testing early on both pregnancies. Both singletons but with a side order of hyperemesis.
