@JTB123 I ovulated on day 24 and my opk looked just like yours the day before I got a positive. The apps tend to go by a typical 28 day cycle, I use mine more to record what's happening now rather than look at what it predicts, it's always been wrong for me, but my cycles are very irregular.

Clara9 · 11/07/2020 14:23

@Rm20 Absolutely! Takes time for our bodies to get back to normal, like you say.

@JTB123 can I ask how useful you find these? I used Clear Blue for a month and got a smiley face, then used these the next month as they are cheaper and never got + response. Maybe I didn't O that month? Or maybe not as easy to use?!

JTB123 · 11/07/2020 14:34

@Clara9 I've hated them! Not sure if it's because I haven't had a positive one yet or not!

If still TTC next month will definitely invest in the CB ones!

Bam27 · 11/07/2020 14:42

@Clara9 I used the cheap ones and the clear blue this month. I got a positive with the CB in the morning, but the cheaper opk was still negative (test line was dark but not darker than control Line). I then got my positive from the cheap one in the evening, but I had tested around lunchtime as well and that was also negative. I only got one positive with the cheap tests and if I hadn't held my wee and tested at 10pm that night I would have missed it. But the CB had already picked it up with fmu. So I think the clearblue is much less hassle and takes the guessing out of it, but I quite like seeing the line get darker on the cheaper ones 😂

Clara9 · 11/07/2020 14:43

@JTB123 Yeh good plan. I am going to stop checking for a couple of months and go back to it if still ttc

Rm20 · 11/07/2020 16:36

@Bam27 @JTB123 @Clara9 I can’t figure those strips out at all. I worry I wouldn’t have a clue and miss my window. I used Boots own brand, £11 for 7 proper tests and they were good and very clear.

I only started using them the cycle just gone and I think when TTC you need to use OPKs or it’s literally just hit and miss. Although, apparently DTD every other day should cover all bases. I find I’m struggling with that part though, DTD by calendar! Anyone else struggling?

Bam27 · 11/07/2020 16:53

@Rm20 yes we struggle with the amount bd required. We only ever dtd every 2-3 days and then do more around ovulation. My OH struggles with the pressure of it. Can be very frustrating sometimes when I see other peoples partners loving it and can do it every day and my oh can't, but I know he can't help it.

Daffodil21 · 11/07/2020 17:22

@Rm20 @Bam27 my DH is actually ok with every other day, but when I panicked about the really late smiley OPK it definitely put too much pressure on. Eventually we got there that day, but I tried again the following morning and it didn't quite go to plan. We don't normally dtd in mornings after we have the night before but thought I'd give it a go as we hadn't been dtd as often just before, as I though O had either passed or wasn't happening, so I thought AF was on its way in next few days

FINALLY got AF today .. CD38. It was an anxiety inducing time for me. BFNs and no sign of AF. I was never on BCPs, and had fairly regular periods. I did get in touch with my GP though, she was quite reassuring 🙂 Asked me to get my thyroid checked. So I'm booked in for a blood test next week. I was never so happy to meet AF as I was this month 😂 But then, hopefully next month is "the" month for us 🤞🏻 However, now my cycle is completely disrupted 😒

Rm20 · 11/07/2020 17:36

@Bam27 it’s the same with us, it’s the pressure of the schedule. We never have had issues at all but when he’s being told, I don’t think it’s the same. I try not to say, “right we need to do it now”.

@Daffodil21 that’s it, when you get a positive on the OPKs it nearly feels like you have to do it immediately. We panic don’t we. Think I’ll be switching to every other day next month too. Everyday is a lot, for us anyway!

Daffodil21 · 11/07/2020 17:41

@Rm20 I absolutely panicked when I got the smiley. I don't think my half jokey text to him letting him know I was going to jump him when he got home helped!

Next month is no OPKs, and just dtd throughout the whole cycle... I'll need a rest by the time AF arrives - let's hope it's not as long as this cycle 😂

Every day is a lot for us too!

OP posts:
JTB123 · 11/07/2020 18:02

@Daffodil21 no OPKs for me next month either! DRD every other day 🤞🏻

Bam27 · 11/07/2020 18:20

@Rm20 @Daffodil21 I think it's sometimes underestimated how difficult it can be for the male to just "perform" when they have to. My OH really struggled the other day when I had a positive opk 😂 but we persevered and got there in the end. The reason I didn't use OPKs for first 6 months of trying was because I didn't want to add to the pressure but this month I just wanted to make sure I was ovulating! And make sure we were doing it at the right time. Same for us we never had any problems before ttc.

Rm20 · 11/07/2020 19:58

@nervousnoob, it’s amazing how relief we can be when AF arrives and how equally disappointed at other times. Hopefully all is good though!

@Daffodil21 @JTB123 I think I may join you guys next month and not do OPKs. I will do this coming month just to see when I ovulate again. I’ll then switch to every other day too 🤞🏼

@Bam27 completely agree, it’s just assumed that the guys are constantly up for it but not always, just like us.

There’s still no sign of AF for me! I had the Very light bleed on Thursday, a little tiny bit dark brown and then today like cream in colour but elastic like? (Sorry TMI). Cramping has also gone and period was due next week, albeit according to the app. I don’t know what stage I’m even at any more 🙃

SVC11 · 11/07/2020 20:56

@Rm20 yup just got to wait. Although haven't come on af today which I count as a win! As tomorrow will be 10dpo which is still a short luteal phase but more normal than 9 that I had last time. Will wait until 14dpo if I make it that far then test I spose.

I'm wondering if anyone had af type cramps and had a bfp... Cos I've had af cramps for the past 2 days.

Rm20 · 11/07/2020 21:12

@SVC11 definite win if you can lengthen the luteal phase. Let’s hope you get to 14 for the test!

AF type cramps can potentially come with implantation apparently but someone who has experienced it would be best placed answering.

acaciabluebell · 12/07/2020 00:26

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well 😊 Last I mentioned on here was that I was peeing a lot at 9dpo... well as soon as I mentioned it on here it went away 😂🙄 And I've been experiencing zero symptoms since then. No cramps, even my boobs have stopped being sensitive which is so weird. I remember in my last cycle I stopped experiencing PMS symptoms immediately before AF, so I feel like that might happen now.

Sunday tomorrow and I'll be 11dpo which is when I said I would/might test. I've ordered some FRERs on Amazon prime which will arrive tomorrow but I'm feeling too scared to test lol. Might hold out until Mon/Tues when DH is away at work and test then. AF is due on Wednesday.

Rm20 · 12/07/2020 07:10

Hey @acaciabluebell keep us posted! Here’s hoping for a positive result ☺️

Daffodil21 · 12/07/2020 07:25

@acaciabluebell good luck!

It's so funny that you plan to do your tests when your DH is at work - so do I!!

OP posts:
acaciabluebell · 12/07/2020 10:03

@Daffodil21 😂 I find that it gives me time to emotionally deal with it first. Although on Wednesday (when AF is due) DH has a day off so he'll be there for that!

Daffodil21 · 12/07/2020 10:20

@acaciabluebell exactly why I do it too! I was working out when to test this month(not early, a day or so late if no AF) and saw DH was working the sat morning I was planning for - perfect! 😂

OP posts:
Bam27 · 12/07/2020 10:42

I am 5-6 days PO today, tww is going so slow 😩 can't even symptom spot yet a sits too early 😂😂

@acaciabluebell @Daffodil21 I'm the opposite to you two 😂 always take any pregnancy test with OH there. I took one without him at the Begining of trying when AF was late and he was upset when I told him. He wants us to find out at the the same time, so I'm forbidden 😂 which works out pretty good actually otherwise I would take them all the time and drive myself crazy.

SVC11 · 12/07/2020 11:12

Ahhh af arrived for me today... So that puts me at a 25 day cycle and only a 10 day luteal phase. Worry that this short lp will mean we will struggle to conceive...

Bam27 · 12/07/2020 12:39

@SVC11 have you recently come off the pill? I'm sorry I cant remember because there are so many of us in this chat.

Bam27 · 12/07/2020 12:41

@SVC11 also sorry about AF arriving 💐
