Hi all,

Planning on TTC soon so I want to start taking prenatal vits soon.

I've read up online and read that Pregnacare can mess up people's cycles? Is this the case? My cycle is like clockwork and really don't want to mess it up.

I'm taking folic acid already, balanced diet, no alcohol (I don't like drinking anyway) and I've switched to decaf tea.

What prenatal vits do you guys recommend? I'm not fussed about how big the pills are or any after taste just want to have what's best.

Thanks in advance and baby dust to you all 🥰

Folic acid with vit C and D, no multivitamin (because of the vit A), no caffeine.

I was taking pregnacare from February (when I first found out I was pregnant) but sadly miscarried in April. My cycles were 25 days before my pregnancy. I did continue taking pregnacare to keep my iron intake higher, and my period arrived 25 days after MC, but have noticed they have been making them now 29 days! So have stopped taking them. That's my personal experience tho! Good luck with your journey xx

Thanks both! And sorry to hear about your miscarriage @bubblybon20 ☹️

@bubbybon20 are you taking anything else now? I read that the seven seas vits were good or Luisa Zissman has a blog and lots of women have had success off the back of taking the tablets she was recommended. Think the tabs were DHA, omega and folic?

You only need folic acid.

professorastrocat · 16/06/2020 07:52

I've been taking strong start from nature's best (along with some dha from same place) with no issues since ttc and during pregnancy x

maria1984m · 16/06/2020 08:14

I've started taking the pregnecare nearly 1 pack down but they are so big I struggle and have been feeling a bit sick (still no period since stopping pill over 3 weeks ago so can't comment on cycle yet) but have ordered some seven seas to try after this pack as been told they are a lot smaller and easier to take x

bubblybon20 · 16/06/2020 10:02

@sunflowersaremyfav93 I haven't started taking anything since stopping taking them: but I may start taking folic acid so it's in my system, and that shouldn't mess around with my cycle! I've also read about seven seas and the other one you mentioned, But haven't personally tried myself :-) x

Literaryseed · 16/06/2020 10:07

I tried a few different ones but stuck with pregnacare as they seemed to have more vitamins in than other brands. Did make me a bit queasy at first but it passed. Didn't affect my cycles.

Nottherealslimshady · 16/06/2020 10:19

I'm taking seven seas- trying for a baby, dont k ow if its affected my cycle yet, only just started. I think so long as you're taking folic acid you're good.

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 16/06/2020 10:31

@bubbybon20 I think folic is the main one you need to prevent a lot of complications for the baby and if you're eating a balanced, nutritious diet you can get most of the good stuff from the veg can't you. Really hoping it happens for you soon.

Thanks guys, I think I might start the preg a are soon and then switch to something else if they mess my cycles up.

Been TTC for around 15 months now and have been taking Pregnacare the whole time - other than being an extra expense and being quite big they haven't made me feel queasy at all or affected my cycle which is clockwork 28 days. I take them with dinner every evening.

Good luck OP! X

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 16/06/2020 11:10

@ThoroughlyForumed thank you! Maybe it just varies from person to person then. You're right it is an extra expense. Good luck to you too! 💕

I only started taking folic acid properly last cycle and my usual 28/29 day cycle that's been regular since coming off the pill in October, was 38 days last month. It may not have had any impact from the folic acid but its the only thing that was different, I wasn't stressed, changed diet or anything. Could just be coinsodence though as obviously many people take folic acid and report no issues, although I must admit I haven't taken them this cycle just incase it messes it up again. I know it might be the wrong thing to do as they're recommended but it was really hard being 10 days late last month and taking several pregnancy tests. If my cycle is normal this month and I don't fall pregnant, then I'll start them again next cycle x

dementedpixie · 16/06/2020 11:18

Its only really folic acid and vitamin d that's advised.

Timetotry123 · 16/06/2020 11:38

I only take folic acid now when I took pregnacare it messed with my cycle.
