Clearblue test

Would be grateful for some advice please. Woke up this morning and felt very sick and 2 days late for my period, so I've just taken a clear blue test that says I am 3+ weeks.
I am in a state of happiness and shock and haven't told my husband just yet as he is on a bike ride.
On the clear blue pamphlet it says if you are 3+ then the doctors would assuming you are 5 weeks plus. I am really confused by this as my last period started on 13th May. My cycle is always 28 days and I haven't missed any other periods. I don't actually think we had sex during ovulation this month either, although not 100% on this.
Can anyone offer any advice as I am really confused how I can be 5 weeks+!

You're 4+3 based on your LMP, that's what your doctor/midwife will log at your booking appointment. They wont be interested in what the pregnancy test said. I had a private ultrasound scan at what I thought was 8 weeks pregnant and they put me back by 10 days so I was actually 6+4. I told my midwife this and she still booked me in based on my LMP.

They confirmed the private scan was correct at my 12 week ultrasound so I ended up having to go back again a couple of weeks later so they could try again because the baby wasn't big enough for them to do all of the measurements.

My main takeaway is that you shouldn't worry about a few days here or there. You'll find out for sure exactly how far you are at your 12 week dating scan, and that will allow you to work out when you ovulated if you're still curious.

Also - huge congratulations! Wishing you a healthy and happy 9 months!

Thanks curiosity! That really helpful information. I'm so worried as I have been drinking throughout so feeling really guilty, nothing too much and only the odd glass of wine here and there but still feeling very irresponsible. Have a feeling I'm a bit further on that I realise as I have a small bump, which I thought was a bloated stomach, but has been a permanent fixture for a while. I have booked a private scan for Monday so will find out more then

I don't think the placenta attaches until 6-7 weeks if I remember correctly? So please try not to worry, nothing should have passed from you to the baby yet. And a little bit of wine here and there is unlikely to have done much damage anyway. Try to enjoy this time, and enjoy telling your DH when he gets home. Grin

Good luck for the scan - although don't panic if there's no heartbeat/they can't find the baby. Most babies are difficult to find until 6-7 weeks as they're literally only a few mm long. Equally, if you are further on than we'd expect based on your LMP then you may well see a little baby and a heartbeat at your scan. Smile
