Positive OPK Before AF is Due, anyone else had this??

Hi all 👋🏼

Just wanted to hop on and see if anyone else has experienced this...

This is my first time tracking my cycle. I'm currently on CD33 and what I thought was 13DPO, going from my first LH surge on CD19, however my BBT didn't have a clear rise, so I've carried on doing OPKs every now and then just to keep an eye what's going on. I did an OPK three days ago and had a darkish line, and just did another one now and my test line is darker than the control line! I didn't have that happen at all otherwise in my cycle, only lines just as dark as the control.

Does anyone else get positive OPKs before AF is due? I've also had three days of EWCM but read this can happen for some women before AF is due also. Any thoughts/personal experiences would be much appreciated xx

Have you tried a pregnancy test?

Thanks for your reply ☺️ I did a FRER at 9/10DPO and got a BFN. Thought I would hold off on testing again until AF is officially late, which would be Sunday x

It seems that some people get negatives but then will suddenly get a positive pregnancy test right before their period was due. It might be worth testing again, esp. if you are having an LH surge.

Hi @MintGreenLife happened to me aswell this month - I have PCOS so have had no idea when I ovulated but it’s leaving towards CD27. I took pregnancy test and was a BFN. Do you have regular cycles usually? How old are you as I’m 37 so have erratic cycles alongside PCOS!

This was my peak at CD27. Today is CD29 and my OPKis still high but no longer a peak!

Thanks for your reply ☺️ I'm 31, and not sure re my cycles as was on the pill for 13 years and this is only my second cycle off the pill. First cycle off was 30 days (withdrawal bleed first and then AF arrived exactly 30 days later). I assumed my cycles were back on track with getting AF so soon, but tbh perhaps that's not the case and my cycles will take a while to settle down. Just can't understand the numerous LH surges! I started doing OPKs from CD6 and every day up until CD19 I got a very faint line, around the same everyday. Then after my first peak my LH levels went right back down, but since then I appear to have had two more surges and am now on CD33. First surge I had was short lived as faint line the previous day followed by faint line the next day, but now as I'm testing every now and then not sure if I'm getting multiple surges or LH levels have just stayed high 🤔

@mintgreenlife I am on cycle 3 after my TFMR. Cycles definitely are not usual and after my surgical management it took two months and a bit to get my period.

Getting off the pill will defo mess up your cycles so give it a couple of months but hopefully you caught the egg on this one! Are you on any vitamins?

Fingers crossed, although from my BBT I fear I may not have even ovulated this month. Have attached my chart so you can see what I mean about my LH levels being steady until my first peak, and then all over the place. Bottom line is LH, top is BBT, which also makes no sense 🤦🏻‍♀️

That must be frustrating, I'm frustrated from just having one cycle where I had no idea what was happening! Just folic acid and vit D. I read Pregnacare and similar can mess up your cycle, so thought that was probably best avoided! X

@ChicaXS chart doesn't include today's OPK btw, which went up even higher and massively confused the app 😂

@mintgreenlife god that looks like mine! I would though read that and think you ovulated CD19 ? I am starting to give up on temping and OPKs. I bought Maybe baby from amazon and am hoping it will help with confirming ovulation. Try that (saliva test) if the chart continues to be erratic next month.
I really with our ovaries can just tell us by sending us an email, life would be so easy 🤣

Hahah that's a genius idea!! If only 😩 Yeah it's an absolute mess isn't it, not looking good for this cycle. Yeah I'm going with that first peak as my ovulation date, which makes me 13DPO. To be fair I've not been great with taking my temp at the same time every morning, so that's probably not helped. I'll be stricter this next cycle, and will look at Maybe Baby also ☺️ Thanks so much for the advice 😘 X
