How reliable is cervical mucus

TTC for 5 months. I check my cervix as a way of determining ovulation and whether I've conceived (very short finger nails, very clean hands). It's always been the same up until now, right before my period my cervix was low hard, cervical mucus was thick/sticky.

After ovulation my cervix dropped and was hard, but gradually it has rose higher and higher until I can only just about touch it. The cervix feels medium-hard. It's usually rock solid but this time theres a very thin soft squishy feeling over the hard cervix. Cervical mucus is very dry, sticky and thick.

Usually by now getting pms symptoms (sore nipples are a major one), nipples aren't that sore it's more my breasts, they feel really heavy and tender mainly at nighttime. I'm on CD23.

Is cervical mucus more reliable compared to cervical position? Cervical position is hinting I could be pregnant but the mucus is telling me my period is round the corner. Thanks for any help :)

@Hayes178 I always check mine and I'm now on my 5 month TTC. From my research soft and squishy is a very good sign because the area becomes more vascular once implantation happens. Apparently it's normal for your cervix to go down and then raise back up after implantation. Obviously make sure that you don't need the loo before you check as this can make the position different.

Mixed reviews on CM and I think this varies. I've counted myself out the last few months before af arrives because of my cervix position.

I'll be interested if anyone can let us know what they've noticed once they had a BFP.
When do you plan to test?

I am following this with interest, I struggle to check my cervix but track my cervical mucus and don't really know how reliable this so would be interested to see if anyone has any positive experiences 😊

Thank you for your responses :) my period is due on the 18th, so I will test on the 19th if AF is no show. I'll keep you both updated

I've thought about trying to feel my cervix position/texture but I'm so unsure as to what I'd be feeling for!
How do you girls know that it's definitely your cervix that you're feeling? I'm always so impressed when I read that girls have felt their own - without giving TMI I really can't determine the difference between "bits" in there 🤣

Anyone got any tips for me to find it?

@mrswilso there are lots of links on line how to do this. Basically pop a clean fingers inside your vagina while you have one leg up on the side of the bath. At the top of your vagina you should feel something doughnut shaped (round with an indentation in the middle). I have found this to be higher or lower and softer or firmer depending on where I am in my cycle. Make sure you've been to the loo (1 and 2) because this can make a difference.

Lying down won't work as it will slide backwards/upwards.

Hi all, I tracked both cm and position for MONTHS and had some months where I was sure it was different and got really hopeful. I'm 7w pregnant now and this time was no different to normal, cervix was medium low and not particularly hard or soft and cm was bog standard! So I personally don't think it's a help at all! Annoying I put so much hope into it.
For me, the only changes this time were earlier cramps (only a couple, but from around 9dpo) and a metallic taste about 11dpo onwards. Proper symptoms didn't really start until about 5w. Good luck! X

@sammyclaire22, I always find my cervix rock hard a day or two before AF. Is yours normally exactly the same as now?

Bit of a weird one this month ladies, cervix dropped really low and hard so thought I was out the game. Period due today. No sign of AF, cervix has risen up nice and high and it's only just reachable. It's only slightly more firmer from being indistinguishable from the same feeling as my vaginal walls. Got my hopes up dramatically to then have a negative pregnancy test :(
