Do you class spotting as the start of your period?

So I always spot 3 sometimes 4 days before my period then have a heavy flow then spot after.

I always know when my heavy flow is going to happen as my boobs stop hurting ( I always get sore boobs as PMS symptom)

So it's really confusing for me because some apps class it as the first day of AF but some don't so I actually don't know how to track how long my cycles been!

Is anyone able to shed some light Smile

I do because my pmt symptoms start pre spotting. These days mine go more like spot (3/4 days), gush ( 2days) spot (1/2 days).

I’m thinking I could be peri though as they’ve got longer over the last year 9/10 average.

No. When I had fertility treatment I was told to only class your period starting when you have bright red flow.

No. Like you l spot a few days beforehand and only count a proper bleed of red blood

The thing is though spotting is old blood is it not?
