Hi,

Sorry after abit of a personal question! But when trying to conceive, how many times a month did you dtd? Xx

I was trying for 10 months using ovulation strips and tracker doing it in ‘fertile window’.

Wasn’t until I finally had enough and insisted we had sex every night from day after period.

We had sex 16 nights in a row and I got pregnant.

Turns out I was ovulating around 4 days earlier than my tracker said even with regular periods.

sarahc336 · 07/06/2020 12:19

Erm around fertile period every day until I was sure I'd ovulated, so sometimes 5-7 days in a row. The rest of the month not as much Grin

mrswilso · 07/06/2020 12:37

I'm on my third real cycle off the pill - the last two months I've tried to time it around when I thought I was ovulating and I've generally been overthinking it all (and I think poor hubby has been quietly paying the price emotionally too). Don't get me wrong, it's not been on my mind during the baby dancing, I'm enjoying the moments - not "making a baby" but I'm wary of DTD in the TWW (weird, subconscious and irrational, I know) and if I'm ovulating later than I think, then I might be missing my chance.

This month, AF cleared off CD5 and I'm on CD7 today. We DTD last night cos we wanted to and I'm just going with the flow going forward this month...aiming to just do it as much as we can/want and I'm not gonna bother trying to figure out ovulation.
I'm hoping that genuinely just letting it all go this month helps.

Bleepers · 07/06/2020 12:46

Every other day from 10 days before my earliest ovulation date to 10 days after. Fell pregnant that month.

CC12x · 07/06/2020 12:54

Every day after period. Now 19 weeks, good luck OP x

2020mission · 07/06/2020 13:49

I try to at least do it every second day on what should be my fertile window (app estimation). This month I’ve upped the number to cover CD7-8, CD10-11, CD13-15 so far. Hoping the days in a row will improve chances 🤞

Szalinski · 07/06/2020 15:01

Last month we had sex every day from day 5 - day 21. It worked!

Oysterbabe · 07/06/2020 15:16

For my first child every day, sometimes twice. For the second child twice in total due to being too knackered due to first child.

Elouera · 07/06/2020 15:22

We are now older, and have TTC 9yrs, so its a bit of a chore sometimes! Its ranged from once a month (the 1st time I got pregnant!) to max 5x a month- generally every 2-3 days in the week leading to ovulation.

I use a re-usable, saliva ovulation thing, which overall has worked out much cheaper than urine strips. I also never got a positive with the urine type.

Curiosity101 · 07/06/2020 15:26

Every other day from the day my period finished. I conceived on the second month after coming off the pill.

hello538 · 07/06/2020 22:07

Thank you ladies - I've attached my clear blue app.

So when would you say we need to continue to dtd every day until?

Have we done enough beforehand? Xx

Didn't want to read and run.

I don't use CB so don't know what the different colours mean. What date does it say you ovulated? If today, I'd probably try tomorrow as well but if those hearts are when you DTD then I think you deserve a break!! 😂

hello538 · 07/06/2020 23:04

@applepie thank you for replying lol! Had a positive ovulation test on 4th! However I'm sure I haven't ovulated yet! Normally CM drys up! Haha yes I think we deserve a break but we keep saying we scared to miss it again after all our hard work this month lol' think we will dtd tomorrow and have a well deserved break!! haha xxx

Try and aim for every other day after period until 4 days after estimated ovulation date.

I obsessively read about fertility during my ttc stint (as well as fertility checks). I read something that was particular interesting.. your vagina is a hostile invironment and will kill sperm that enter so if you are not having sex very often it will view it as something to be attacked. The fertility clinic advised that having regular sex means your body will not view the sperm as as much of a threat.

Apologies for to much information but ttc drive me mad, once pregnant I think me and my husband had had enough of sex and went 5 months with only having sex once.

Oh the fun!

Good luck.

AliasGrape · 08/06/2020 22:36

We went for every other day in what should have been fertile window - I tended to ovulate really late even with clomid so kept going till next period.

That said, the month I got pregnant we had sex a grand total of once - various reasons/ factors. I remember having a small hissy fit that we’d WASTED A WHOLE MONTH and it was clearly never going to happen and I gave up anyway. To the point I didn’t bother testing or even really notice until period was over a week late (had had implantation bleed though so that confused me I think).

HeadShouldersKnees · 08/06/2020 22:45

We've been trying for months now and my poor OH I make him have sex ten days in a row. We're on the 3rd month of it now.. my app isn't correct and the sticks fry my brain as it said that you might get a negative in the morning and then a positive in the afternoon. I've been taking my temperature in the morning and logging it but you have to remember to do it before you get up and with a one year old that can be hard.
What helped last time was conceive plus lubricant also.

hello538 · 09/06/2020 15:29

Thanks everyone! Praying for a little miracle this month but I suppose I'm used to the let down now! GOOD LUCK TO YOU GUYS IF YOUR TRYING TOOO❤️❤️

I'm on CD9 and we've managed to DTD every night CD6-8 so far and I'm already plotting for 4 in a row this evening 😂 hubby's looking very pleased with himself haha!
I love to see a BFP so please let us know if your little miracle turns up this month! 💕

hello538 · 09/06/2020 20:50

@mrswilso thank you!! Let me know too!

I feel crampy tonight and I've had lots of creamy discharge so I'm wondering !! Always manage to convince myself " this is the month though" ! 😂 so probably isn't xx

MrsDrambuie · 09/06/2020 22:30

For our DS we were TTC for 2 years, DTD every 2-3 days around the fertile week, give or take a few days. As part of fertility investigations I had a HSG procedure done (side effect - it clears your tubes) and fell pregnant in that very cycle, after DTD only twice that month (it hurt both times, I had a cyst / some sort of infection).

We are TTC #2 and it is so hard as we are exhausted with a toddler, work, etc. Plus we know how hard it was to get pregnant before so I feel the odds are stacked against us. I’m 36, so we have time, but not loads of time.

Sorry that was a bit of a moan. Point is, if you time it right (intentionally or otherwise) it only takes 1 time DTD! So you never know...! Good luck Smile

hello538 · 10/06/2020 08:55

Thank you, I had a HSG just before lock down! Thought it would help but it didn't 😭😭😭

OP posts:
MrsDrambuie · 10/06/2020 09:30

Sorry it didn’t help you in that sense - but did the HSG find anything to be concerned about, or was it all clear?

I’m hoping I will have another HSG done soon and see if it “helps” this time around too... Trying not to get hopes up but I’ll be happier if if I have it done, then I won’t be wondering “what if”.

hello538 · 10/06/2020 12:34

No they didn't find anything. I have had 5 losses though. Have yet to find anything wrong :( I think it was a progesterone thing and short luthel phase.

I have progesterone for when I'm next pregnant but it's falling hit I'm finding hard. Probably because I have only 1 tube after ectopic pregnancy xx

OP posts:
MrsDrambuie · 10/06/2020 13:45

Sorry for your losses. Hope the hospital can find something that helps you next time Flowers
