Private tests to speed things up a bit?

Haven’t posted for a while but been TTC for a year now and still nothing. I’m going to call the GP next week but fully prepared that in the current climate they will say they can’t start doing any tests yet. I’ve already had a few done on the NHS before covid (ultrasound, day 3 bloods, pelvic exam) and OH has had a SA a couple of years ago. No issues found with any of these.
I’ve noticed that there are a few private hospitals where I live offering some of the tests it says are required before I can be referred to the fertility clinic and just wondered if anyone had done this before? Go privately for investigation tests and then go back to the GP with the results and ask to be referred? We are also happy to pay for any further treatment privately if it makes things easier but wondered if anyone had done just the tests this way and then gone on to do the rest on the NHS?
I’m only 29 but OH is 42 and says he doesn’t want to be an older parent so feel like our time is running out for having kids if we don’t conceive in the next few years.
