OH and I like completely different things when it comes to names so we'll definitely end up with a compromise rather than what either of us would have as our number one choice.

I like mostly very Americanised modern unusual names where he tends to like what I'd call 'generic names' (I have a generic name so I in no way want to offend anyone here, most of you will hate what I like but we're all different) It's very annoying because I like either completely out there names or really quite traditional and he falls right in the middle of those 🙄.

So if it were totally down to me with my weird names my top options for a boy would be Avery, Maverick, Indie or Kit. From a more traditional list I also love Elijah, Henry and Hugo.

For girls I really only like more unusual/out there there names so my top picks would be Blake, Rumer, Scout and Everley.

Thankfully OH loves Blake so if we have a girl it will 100% be Blake Harper. At the moment if we have a boy it's looking like Lincoln Jax (OH is campaigning hard for Jesse James but I'm unsure)

If it were down to him we'd definitely have like James, Daniel and Emily or something. It's not that I dislike them but I just really like unusual names, 'normal names' just make me go 'meh' I'm uninspired and I want to love my child's name.

Like I said, I'm fully aware I have very unusual taste and I hope I'm not offending anyone and I certainly won't be offended if you think mine are awful. It's our differences that keep things interesting 😊

I have 2 with quite unusual names and my youngest has a plain simple name as my mum passed away when I was 4 months pregnant and I named her after her.

Struggling with boy names but have pretty much chosen a girls name so I better hurry up and get pregnant 😂😂

I really like Blake too, for a boy or girl! Your bloke is like mine and prefers more traditional names and I don't, so no idea how we'll agree @Noble89 at least you've got one you're settled on.
I really like rueben and my husband's like "we're not German" I like Renee too and he's like "we're not French". I'm like ok boring normal name, think outside the box will ya 😂

@Noble89 dont worry mine and @lucyrp welsh names will probably be so unusual you wont know which sex they are 😆

I like traditional names and as we are big Potter fans we will be having a name from there!
Not Neville though as that will be our dog's name when we get one 🤣

It wasn't a bust up by any means and she's back and all fine but I struggle not feeling anything when it's something I desperately want to. I want to support her and do what I can especially after last time but it's hard sometimes. Being totally in the dark is hard!

On the subject of names we've gone quirky but solid.... that's how I'd describe them. Don't want to join the ranks of well used names shouted across the park if that makes sense??

We picked Ophelia or Beatrice for girls and Maxwell so far for a boy. Hoping for a girl secretly (although any baby is great at this stage!!) as we are an all girl household with us and the animals. Plus we just really really want to use our girl combos 🤣 we will be putting HP links in there too as we are major Harry Potter and Disney fans!!

@Noble89 I love your choice of names! I’m definitely siding with Lincoln Jax over Jesse James but they’re two lovely names either way! My names list is between slightly unusual/modern names too. Luckily my OH has been quite laid back with my list so far, as long as the boy’s middle name (if we get one) can be the same as his middle name he’ll be happy 😂

The first time round we had a wonderful system, I came up with hundreds of names and DH vetoed them all, and the one I wasn't fully onboard with, he went meh, so that's what we used, luckily everybody always says is perfect for ds, or maybe they were just afraid of my temper. ...

Being a teacher though there are so many names I used to love which I very much don’t any more 😂

Ladies, with the talk of baby names- try this app called “Kinder”, it’s like tinder for baby babes! You and your OH both get it, it shows you both loads of names and you swipe left or right, and the app tells you when you get a match (i.e a name you both chose)!

Ha @Bear127 my sister says this too! She had some naughty Callum's in her class and she grimaces at that name now. Whereas I'm totally indifferent to it. Also a shame an ex was called luke as I really like that name but can't use it now 😆

I just love the name Sam for a boy, but my OHs cousin is called Sam. I don't think that matters though, a little removed from our main circle of friends and family etc. Also love Lucy for a girl ☺
I suppose I'm going completely down the 'common name' route but as a child who has had to spell/pronounce her name everywhere and to everyone growing up (and still do!) I think I have seen it from a different angle. I'm also a teacher and have been put off by so many names over the years 😂
Ps. I absolutely love my name now though, it's so me and I quite like that it's different... Em only now though.. Not growing up.. 😂

I have a longgg List of names, I do quite like Irish names but some of the spellings would be cruel to give an Aussie kid! But I think we’ve agreed on Aidan for a boy as kind of Irish and sounds like it’s spelt!

I like Sophie or Emily for a girl I think, we both like more unusual names but can’t agree on them for girls! He likes Quinn or Bailey, sometimes I don’t know if he picks certain names just to wind me up 😂

I think we’ll double barrell our surnames too so will have to be mindful of that ha!

@Noble89 yeah I'm with you on names I love yours but OH thinks I've watched too much American TV and doesn't get the names I like, I really like Paisley and Aubrey but he isn't into that at all. I actually sent him a list of 100 names the other day and we both picked ones that we would like, we had about 10 each with only one overlap I think (can't actually remember what that is 😂) boys names I have a lot less though. Xx

@Maybe333 omg I'm totally with you on name spelling, one of my main criteria is that the name shouldn't have to spelt out to people, my name is unusual and my surname is double barrelled so my name always has to be spelt out and is so bloody long I hate it 😩
