Anyone tried cycle tracking before TTC?

Hello fellow MN’ers! I previously did a thread explaining me and DH will TTC this autumn.

Apart from us 2 knowing, my best friend who is like a sister to me knows and suggested to sign up to Natural Cycles/Flo to get to know my body and it’s natural rhythm with periods.

She has 3 DC and mentioned she tried this with her last 2 DC and she noticed she fell pregnant with them a lot quicker as she knew her body’s rhythm. She also mentioned to use condoms alongside one of these apps which I also wondered if anyone here has done?

It would only be for 4 months, me and DH are very willing to use condoms if we need to alongside the app for me to track my cycles! As I’ve heard the app can be unreliable on its own and we definitely do not want to fall pregnant any sooner than 4 months

Advice please?

Hey OP this is exactly what I am doing - I came off the pill in May and we plan to start TTC in September. I am using Clue and Flo to track my cycle and then condoms for contraception until Sept (so 4 months just like you)

I know it sounds crazy but I have also started using cheap OPKs now, so I know what to expect in terms of how to use them and so i can plug the info into the app and it will be more accurate about my cycle. (I've always been a bit over the top in preparing for things!)

So far so good, got my first positive OPK today 14 days after stopping the pill so hoping i'm one of the lucky ones that goes back to normal quickly.

Good luck to you come Autumn! Hopefully we will find ourselves in a BFP thread. p.s. Love the username

I've used Natural Cycles along with condoms on red days as my contraception since Jan 2019. I really like it. It's just a case of clicking the button from prevent to conceive when you e start later this year. I've had one eek moment when I randomly ovulated 3 days early one month but other than that it's been spot on.

We're doing something similar. We're not intending to TTC until the end of the year, maybe even Jan/Feb next year but I've had my implant remove because I wasn't getting on with the side effects and it seems OTT to go back on the pill when we will probably want to TTC in 6 months or so anyway.

I've not started doing OPKs - but I do intend to be aware of my cycles and follow a similar process of avoiding my fertile window. Although for now until we can be sure of my cycles, it's barrier contraception 100% of the time.

Hi ladies, I am in the same boat too :) I came off the pill a few days ago and I just approaching the end of my withdrawral bleed. We plan to start trying in September too.

I have downloaded two apps (and am tracking everything in a book too) have cheap OPKs and I have started temping. I am also taking Pregnacare tablets and doing A LOT of research... who knew there was so much to learn!

I am concerned I will have pretty irregular cycles as this is my vauge memory of my pre-pill life (17 years ago). I turn 35 in July too, so this is a concern for me. I feel like coming off the pill early and working out my natural rhythms is a good place to start. I'm getting pretty geeky about it Smile
