How to read an ovulation test

Hi, we are in our 5th month of trying to conceive and have bought our first ovulation tests this month!

I had a very weird period, I was supposed to be due on today, however had a period type flow for 2 days and then slight spotting yesterday, completely stopped by today. As it was strange and I usually have full flow for 5-6 days, I did take a test 2 days ago but it was negative.

I took an ovulation test today just to see what it said and I don't quite know how to read it! Am I ovulating or about to ovulate just 1 day after my "period" has officially stopped?

First time using them so I don't really have a clue! Haha, any advice and help is much appreciated!

So the test line has to be of equal darkness or darker than the control line. Yours is much lighter so a while off yet. Keep doing them everyday. When you get closer to the day you think you ovulate anyway, do a couple of tests a day so you don’t miss your peak. Don’t worry I’d they don’t gradually get darker, they can fluctuate quite a bit before your peak.
If you’re struggling interpreting the tests, I’d recommend the femometer app as it has intelligent recognition to read the tests. Good luck x

Do you know how long your cycles are usually? I used to start the opks around cd10 and do them twice a day and then at around cd16 I'd do them three times per day as I'd usually ovulate between cd18-22. Sometimes they would get gradually dark until they were peak and then sometimes they would be completely negative and faint and the next one later that day would be a blazing positive so it really does vary.

@Chanel05

Usually I am 28 days but this month I was 24 days... I'm feeling a bit confused with my cycle at the moment! Confusedx
