I find it really hard to tell the results of opks. What does everyone think?

Is this a positive opk?

Negative. But I'd take more morning/afternoon for next few days.

lucieee · 04/06/2020 16:51

I think that's positive... that's what mine look like and I've had tests that suggest I am in fact ovulating

Alonelonelyloner · 04/06/2020 17:09

It's darker than the one I took before conceiving my daughter (one time sex that month)!

Jdubbs90 · 05/06/2020 07:07

I took another 2 hours later and another this morning they were very negative! Not sure what to think 🤔

Have you DTD? Maybe that was your surge? As above, mine was that colour or lighter. Also what time of day did you do the first? They reckon early afternoon is best.

NoCallerID · 05/06/2020 07:28

I'd say the pic was positive or I'd at least count it like that.

ellenpartridge · 05/06/2020 07:30

That probably is positive especially if it's now gone negative

I'm having the same issue OP - I'm now on CD19 and that's similar to what I've had as my strongest (yesterday) but am worried that I'm just ovulating really late - first month using OPKs but they didn't arrive until CD14 so I'm wondering if I actually missed my surge - but then would I still have high LH levels? I'm a bit clueless haha. So far DTD on CD11, 13, 14, 16 and 18 so hoping we've covered all bases unless I do just ovulate late but my cycles tend to be quite a regular 28/29 days so can't see me ovulating much later?

Jdubbs90 · 05/06/2020 09:58

We’ve been DTD every other day for the last 9 days or so just to make sure. Using OPKs when I wake up, at 4pm and again at 8pm just so I don’t miss the surge. I’ll test again at 4pm today to see, just to be sure we’ll treat that as my surge ☺️ Thanks everyone!

How many times a day do you test? I suspect if the tests after this one were lighter than you probably just missed picking up the really dark OPK - I would have said it was a high test and only a couple of hours away from being a peak x

Jdubbs90 · 05/06/2020 16:06

I’ve taken another and it’s now looking very similar to the picture I sent 🤷🏼‍♀️ Really hard to tell! I’ll keep testing and see if it gets any stronger, we’re carrying on DTD every other day anyway.

Finally got a positive OPK ☺️ Thanks for your help everybody! Ovulation testing is so confusing

Hey @jdubbs90 mine looks like your first picture today. What do you recommend do I just keep testing twice a day and see what happens?

Jdubbs90 · 08/06/2020 07:16

Hey @SVC11, yes keep testing twice a day. I usually test at 4pm and 8pm, but whatever works for you!

How do you know when to start tracking ovulation? I've recently come off contraception and no bleed yet so I'm a little clueless of when to start using my OPKs.

SunnySideUp2020 · 08/06/2020 08:52

@zippityzip based on my experience, if you were on the pill start a week after your last pill I'd say - so you don't miss it if you have early ovulation. Test once a day in the afternoon as fmu isn't recommended for opks normally.. Good luck x

zippityzip · 08/06/2020 09:22

Thank you!

marshallrubblechaserockyzoomer · 08/06/2020 09:42

Definitely negative
