Ttc breastfeeding - is ttc pointless?

Hi all,
Wondering if anyone else here is ttc while breastfeeding? My LO is nearly six months and I’d love a short gap.

Unfortunately she’s still feeding 2-3 times overnight (refusing bottles BUT I am trying), and 7-10 times in the day.

I’m feeling a bit emotional as all anyone ever did post birth was speak to me about contraception and tell me breastfeeding as a contraceptive was a myth BUT actually it seems that it’s fairly effective 😭

No period. Hoping maybe to catch first egg but know it’s unlikely. Feeling completely confused about what my next steps should be. Anyone else in the same boat?

Ps little one took a while, hence some of the urgency. Know how lucky we are. Just also wishing it was something I had thought about before ebf a bottle refusing baba.

I was.

I didn't get my periods back till my son was almost 2 years old, while still bf.

But I have friends who got pregnant while bf a lot quicker. One has an 18 month age gap.

So it really varies.

No experience with no periods. My periods came back at exactly 6 months pp. I had the copper coil fitted once my periods had returned and taken it out 9 months later to TTC. Worked straight away (resulted in TMFR) after which I stopped breastfeeding for a few reasons. Personally I would suggest just start dtd regularly. Maybe do some OPKs? There are herbal remedies out there which could help you get your cycles back... maybe have a read about Agnus Castus. I'm taking it (and have done for DC1), however not when breastfeeding. There are some studies out there and the bottom line is that it safe to take however can change the taste of bm. This is obviously up to you to outweigh the risks.

In the same boat over here! LO is 11 months and still no periods. Also a bottle refuser and she still feeds really often Sad
We're ready for a 2nd but I don't want to stop feeding just to start ttc?
I've heard some people have success when night weaning?

I'm in a similar boat. My DS will be 6 months this weekend and I'm planning on starting trying in August for a second. I don't want a massive age gap and I had two miscarriages before having my son so don't want to put off ttc for too long.

I'm still exclusively breastfeeding but am swapping him to formula (gradually) starting from this weekend. He will take expressed milk from a bottle so I'm hoping he'll take formula ok but who knows?! I planned on stopping breastfeeding at 6 months anyway not just because I want to ttc.

My periods returned when he was 14 weeks old but my cycles have been irregular (36 days then 33). I tracked my last cycle with opks and my luteal phase is really short so fertility hasn't returned yet annoyingly (although is normal while breastfeeding apparently).
