So this is my first month using the easy at home ovulation tests since I mmc in april. I wanted to start testing around day 5 to get a good feel for what my baseline LH levels are however I’m still on the tail end of AF but tested anyway and iv just gotten a high result?? Is this normal if still on period as surely I can’t be ovulating and on period at same time? I’ve attached a pic xx

Yes it’s possible.

How long are your cycles usually?

Mcbee26 · 02/06/2020 16:16

Anything between 26-29 days xxx

What cycle day are you on? It is possible to ovulate at the end of your period but this happens with shorter cycles xx

Mcbee26 · 02/06/2020 16:23

I’m on CD 5 today. I don’t think I’m on a shirt cycle particularly normally get AF between 26-29 30 at and absolute push xx

It’s more common in a shorter cycle (if your cycle was 20 days you would usually ovulate well before day 14 for example).

Could be a random ovulation, could be close but not quite peak ovulation (although does look pretty positive to me although hard to say from photo).

Could you possibly be pregnant already? Sometimes pregnancy hormones show up as a positive ovulation test.

Or could the bleeding now possibly not be your period (did it come at roughly the expected time etc).

I would keep testing and see what happens over the next few days. Obviously DTD if possible too!

P.s I’m very sorry about your MMC, sorry l missed that when I first read your post.

That’s ok had a wee girl at 15 weeks just waiting on post mortem results but back on the TTC bus. I’m still getting faint positives so do you think that would affect LH? Xx

Sorry also forgot to say that yes I could be pregnant again as we just went with every other day while waiting for AF but don’t feel that I am xx

Ovulation can happen a couple of days after a positive result so it's not impossible to ovulate on day 7 -- but pretty unlikely! If your cycle this month turns out to be a normal length, e.g. 28 days this month, you can be sure you didn't ovulate early. The luteal phase doesn't vary by more than a couple of days.

I used to find that if I tested too early I would occasionally get an early false positive, but I don't know if that was a bad sign for that particular month, or just irrelevant. Some people have multiple LH peaks, or an early LH surge that's not as high as the second one, but ovulation will only occur around one of the peaks.

It could also still be a little early for things to have completely returned to normal.

All the best xx

Sorry about your loss.

Ovulation tests will not work if you're still getting positive pregnancy tests.

I've just had a chemical pregnancy/early loss and the only reason I tested was because I had a positive OPK 2 weeks after I ovulated. 3-4 weeks later and only now has HCG left the system and OPK no longer positive.

Give it a few days and test again and hopefully you'll see it's negative then you can see the progression back up to positive again.
