Pcos and ttc

Hello! Thought I’d start a new thread of ttc with pcos. We’ve been “half heartedly” trying for a few months but this month is the first with OPK. Got my first two smiley faces yesterday and today. Anybody want to join me or just say hello 🤗

Hey @Fliss689

Fellow PCOSer here 😞

How are your cycles?

🤞for us both!

Fliss689 · 01/06/2020 07:51

Hello @ApplePie86

Quite lucky with cycles I think in they are between 31 and 35 days most months. Totally unsure how I am with ovulation as only tracking from this month but fingers crossed. How are your cycles? How long have you been ttc if you don’t mind me asking? X

Hey @Fliss689

That's good your cycles are fairly regular.

I had horrible cycles, up to about 6 months long at the worst but then I started taking inositol one December which brought it down to 54 days, 44 days then I ended up getting a BPF a few weeks ago but ended in a very early miscarriage/chemical pregnancy. Only really getting back to a bit normal now I think but not sure where my cycle is at at the moment. Maybe a couple more weeks til I can figure out.

NLouise123 · 01/06/2020 12:23

Hi Guys,

Can I Jump on? I have PCOS- myself and my OH were trying for a few months last year but a new job and a Probationary period meant I had to go back on the Pill. I'm now clear of my probation period and have just finished my pack of Pills last night!

When we were trying last year, my cycles as much as stopped. I am over weight and could do too lose around 5 stone - I've gained 4 stone since being with my OH!

I hope combining losing weight and TTC we will stumble across a good month and fall pregnant. I would ideally like to lose a bit before I fall pregnant so I am at less risk when I do.

ApplePie86 · 01/06/2020 14:40

@NLouise123 I am exactly the same as you - have a lot of weight to lose which is the only reason I've not been to the doctor to seek help as although I'm sure they would, the first thing they'd want is for me to lose weight. I'd managed to lose 2 stone before lockdown but probably gained it back now.

Annoyingly the only thing that properly works for me is seriously calorie restricting which really isn't good - I simply hate exercise so not eating is the lesser of two evils.

Fliss689 · 01/06/2020 16:20

@ApplePie86 I’m sorry about your Miscarriage. Fingers crossed your cycles are beginning more frequent, it’s such a worry.

Hi @NLouise123. Like you both I have a fair bit of weight to loose and must admit this stops me going to doctors in the future if I can’t manage to shift it. Calorie restricting is what works for me, managed to loose almost a stone in lockdown so slowly and steadily I’m hoping I’ll get there. 🤗 really hope you start to get regular cycles in the next few months now you’ve finished your pills.

Hiya! I have pcos, been trying for over a year after periods returning following final depot injection which was 2 years ago! Had our first fertility appt in march and was started on metformin and advised to aim for my bmi below 30 (easier said then done during lockdown!). Supposed to have follow up this month with the aim of going onto clomid but only managed to shift 10lb and ideally needed more off. It is so draining all this ttc. I have been taking conception multi vitamins but ordered some new ones with inositil in aswell.i have always tracker ovulation and we have always hit it but it just hasn't happened! Cycles are a little better than they used to be...ranging from 33-46 days at present but have been upto 80 days at some point! X

hampshirerose34 · 01/06/2020 22:26

Hiya All, I was diagnosed with PCOS this March at the age of 34 😔 after years of having issues I knew there was something wrong ! I must admit I am over weight and have been struggling for years to shift the pounds. the doctors kept saying it's because I am over weight so that was the problem . I have now been put on metformin I have lost a stone in a month on it I am taking a load of vitamins and inositol thought I better get cracking as time is runny away to have a baby. And now being referred to fertility specialist because of my age.

Leg222 · 01/06/2020 22:35

Hi,

Can I join too?

Very much the same story for me too. We we have been ttc for over a year now. We didn't get serious until about six months ago. I also have a load of weight to lose. Trying my luck with OPKs. Hoping it will just happen and trying not to stress myself out about it too much which is easier said than done.

2007Millie · 01/06/2020 22:48

1 cycle TTC here. Fingers crossed for everyone!

hampshirerose34 · 01/06/2020 23:03

@Leg222 @2007Millie what meds are you on oand what vitamins are you taking ??

Leg222 · 01/06/2020 23:13

Hi.
I'm not actually taking any vitamins at the moment. To be completely honest I wouldn't have a clue where to start
I do take Metformin to help with the PCOS.

2007Millie · 01/06/2020 23:22

Metformin, inositol, super high dose vitamin D and folic acid

A whole mixture!

Last period ended 30th April.

My cycles are ALL over, ranging from 30-120 days.

However, today I've had weird brown blood streaked discharge so I've no idea what that means

Kemistry · 01/06/2020 23:36

Hiya! I suspect I also have pcos but I'm having a blood test today to get a diagnosis. No period since Feb which sucks as I'm TTC!! To make matters worse, I can't stop putting on weight. I finally started a low carb diet 2 weeks ago and started taking inositol two weeks ago as well.
Is anyone taking other vitamins that induced their ovulation?

hampshirerose34 · 01/06/2020 23:39

Since I have been taken metformin my periods have been getting much better I have only just starting taking all the vitamins like vit D, B complex , omega 3 , co enzyme 10 , L-caratine , folic acid and Myo- insotol but the met formin makes me feel so sick ! What doses are you taking of everything ?

I am not sure what the brown stuff is but I get that at the end of my period and it's really sticky.

ApplePie86 · 02/06/2020 19:00

I'm taking:

Multi vitamin
Myo-inositol (4000mg)
Folic acid

Some brands of inositol recommend taking 2000mg but I believe 4000mg is the correct dose to be taking (half in morning, half at night).

I've felt like what I think is ovulation pain yesterday and today. DTD last 2 nights but had light bleeding after last night. Apparently that can happen as the lining is fragile or something. Makes sense with the ovulation pain I get.

Back to the hospital for final blood test on Thursday to make sure HCG levels disappeared from last months chemical pregnancy but I'm confident all is gone now.

hampshirerose34 · 03/06/2020 08:43

@ApplePie86 Are you take the inositol in power form ? Mine is in tablet form and it's said 500mg Upto 3 times a day.

I get ovulation pain but it only seems to be on the right side. When I had all my test done they said that structurally I am perfect it's the hormones that are the problem.

I hope you get the green light all is over and you can start again.

ApplePie86 · 03/06/2020 09:08

@hampshirerose34 My ovulation pain has always been on left side. I'm wondering if there's some wrong wrong with the other side or it's just weaker 🤔

Not sure how your pain is but mine is really quite prominent. Wouldn't say painful but generally very uncomfortable and can feel it when walking around or changing position. Extremely tender. I don't know if it gets worse the higher dose of inositol you take.

hampshirerose34 · 03/06/2020 09:44

@ApplePie86 I have seen them ones I wasn't sure if they were any good for the price.

I get a bad pain but it doesn't last long at all it's not continuous. In January I was convinced I had convinced I had all the systems but nothing.

@hampshirerose34 They are absolutely worth it although I can't offer a comparison over the powder.

I had cycles up to 180 days long and usually 3-4 months. When I started taking them my period came 2 weeks later giving me. 54 day cycle. Next 2 cycles were 45 days then the cycle where I had a chemical I would have had a 28-32 day cycle.

ApplePie86 · 03/06/2020 10:10

Also - think they have quite a good discount if you buy more than 3/4/5/6. Something like 20/25% if you buy 6 which is what I did.

hampshirerose34 · 03/06/2020 12:37

@ApplePie86 I might give them ago my cycle is all over the place so I am hoping these ones will sort min out.

Goodness mine do do for that long maybe 40 -60 days I have started tracking them properly now.

It's a lot isn't it with all this stuff to take.the Metformin make me feel so sick and the inositol gives me heart burn.

NLouise123 · 03/06/2020 19:32

I follow an account on Instagram that is specifically ran for women who suffer with POCS and they are massive advocates of a Gluten and Dairy Free diet and taking Ovasitol. Also they advise doing Low impact workouts is more beneficial than high intensity work outs. Account: PCOS.weightloss

My sister has been following it and she's had great results regular cycles and confirmed ovulation!
