Ladies... I've had little to no symptoms this month (my breasts always get sore before AF but they were much more sore early on this month... this was my one and only symptom). Got up this morning (13dpo£m) and decided to just POAS and get it over with and 4 sticks later it's clear i'm pregnant! I couldn't stop crying and shaking hysterically into my partners chest!

What now? After the obvious excitement my anxious mind went straight to how i'm going to get through the next 8+ weeks until the 12 week scan! We've been TTC for 6 months and finally got my positive and I just want everything to go perfectly! How do I take my mind off the bad and focus on the positives? I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow as they're closed today!

Thanks ladies!

Congratulations!

I think most GPs won’t do a lot when you’re 4 weeks pregnant but by all means call and see. What do you mean not focus on the bad? The chances of things going wrong you mean? If so it is hard but just remember even at 4 weeks it is more likely than not that you will have a successful pregnancy and the odds improve every day!

I’m not sure if early scanning places are open in lockdown but an early viability scan can break up the long wait till 12 weeks!

lucyrp · 31/05/2020 12:06

I would probably book a private scan at around 6-8 weeks to break up the wait. That's what I'm going to do when I finally get my BFP

Skyla01 · 31/05/2020 12:28

@SarahTTCx congratulations! I finally got my first BFP a few weeks ago. You need to make an appointment with your midwife for between around 6 to 8 weeks. The gp surgery receptionist should be able to help you with that. Currently these appointments are over the phone. You can book a private scan from around 6 wks, cost ~£70. I'm tempted to book one for reassurance but might just wait until 12wks, although it does feel like a long way away!

As for early pregnancy anxiety, I think we all feel at least a bit worried. But really there is nothing you can do about the mc risk so I would try to stay positive and enjoy each day as it comes. Especially the early days- I feel pretty awful now with nausea & tiredness so enjoy it while you can!

PinkFlamingoGirl · 31/05/2020 12:56

Awww wow, congrats on your BFP ! This really made me smile this morning and made me feel positive about TTC on cycle 7.

No words of advice except from an early scan might put your mind at rest xxx

@lucyrp I am tempted to do the private early scan but my partner isn't keen, he'd rather just wait. Think he's just going to have to understand that it's to settle my nerves. He's just worried that it's an extra risk to go out when not necessary during covid.

@Skyla01 oh congrats to you too! It's such a strange time of mixed emotions isn't it, i'm obviously elated and so excited but i'm very nervous as well! Definitely tempted by a private early scan as they're pretty cheap for a bit of reassurance!

@PinkFlamingoGirl aww thank you so much! I never imagined my reaction would be so insane haha, I cried uncontrollably and jumped around and my heart was beating so fast! Fingers crossed and lots of baby dust that you get your BFP this cycle!

@SarahTTCx I haven't had an early scan myself, but I think it's best not to book one too early- they might not be able to see a heartbeat and it could be more stressful. Try to wait until 7-8wks.

Skyla01 · 31/05/2020 14:58

@PinkFlamingoGirl it was cycle 11 for us. There's a good chance you'll fall quicker than that but don't lose hope!

OldFirstTimeMum · 31/05/2020 17:13

Congratulations @SarahTTCx! I’m going to call the dr tomorrow morning as well. 4 wks 6 days. 🙂 enjoy and don’t think of the worst xx

SarahTTCx · 31/05/2020 17:21

@OldFirstTimeMum ah congratulations! It's such an exciting but nerve wrecking time! I think the dr will pretty much just get me referred to a midwife and that's about it but I just can't wait for that step to make it feel more real! Good luck with your pregnancy xxx

Make sure you start taking folic acid now if you haven't been doing so already.

Congratulations
