Hi all!
Trying to conceive baby number 2 after mmc in March.
I thought all my hcg was gone but now I'm not so sure and wanted your opinion on onestep. My husband won't let me use the expensive ones until after AF is due because I'm a poas addict!!!

I'm due on 6th/7th June but because of my mmc I'm sure my cycle is all over the place and I couldn't pin point my ovulation, however I have had ewcm for about 5 days with brown cm 3 days before that so potentially could have ovulated early.
I used a frer 2 days ago and it had a vvf line, but I'm thinking that was prob evap because all the one steps after have been negative. But then I started worrying that maybe my hcg didn't drop to 0????

Also, I just took this onestep and it has pink lines either side of where the positive would be but the middle was not very strong?!
I'm so confused by everything.

Also, how can I upload a pic?

I don't think the One Step ones are that good. The best cheapies I've found are the easy@home ones. They're almost as sensitive as FRER.

dochas06 · 29/05/2020 16:10

I buy cheap ones from amazon, haven’t had any issues so far! Gave me accurate positives with both of my pregnancies

Mcbee26 · 29/05/2020 19:27

Following this as I’m having some issues as well, I’m getting a positive on first response but nothing in the one step, I had a late misscarriage 29/4/20 so I dunno if my hcg has ever went down or not or why it’s not showing in the one step ones.
I’m also trying to use the ovulation sticks to see if I can get a surge incase I miss ovulation if it is just hcg left over arrggggg it’s mind boggling xxx

Mcbee26 · 29/05/2020 19:28

Pic of my first response 🤷🏼‍♀️

I do not rate one step tests. They always seemed to have a "squinter" when I was using them, and then when I actually had a bfp on FRER and CBD, the one step tests were negative! Useless imo.

peperethecat · 29/05/2020 19:31

@Mcbee26 That is a very clear line on the FRER so if your cheapie isn't showing anything at all it's clearly duff.

peperethecat · 29/05/2020 19:32

I'm sorry for your loss, by the way. Any chance you can get a couple of blood tests to see whether your HCG is rising or falling?

Mcbee26 · 29/05/2020 19:35

@peperethecat
I could phone my docs on mon and ask but they are being very funny with appts lately with the lockdown xx

Mcbee26 · 29/05/2020 19:35

And thank you 😊

peperethecat · 29/05/2020 19:55

I would tell them it's been a month since your miscarriage and you're getting a very strong positive so you want to check whether it's a new pregnancy or you have retained tissue.

Mcbee26 · 29/05/2020 19:57

Literally couldn’t even write it but just as I sent that I got a massive gush if fresh blood so I’m going to assume I’m not pregnant xx

peperethecat · 29/05/2020 19:59

Eek. See how it goes and take another test in a week's time then?

Sorry you're going through this.

Moominmiss · 29/05/2020 20:00

@Mcbee26 I would also definitely ask your doctors to do blood tests to check for either riding or falling hcg.

I mc at 9 weeks and it took a month for my hcg to drop below 5. I’ve heard the later you mc the longer it can take for it to drop back.
Up until the day I had my levels drawn at 5 I was still getting good lines on frers and positives in clear blue digital.

Good luck though. @fashu I would also request hcg blood tests. But hopefully since your mc is in March it’s a new pregnancy. Have you had af since your mc?

Mcbee26 · 29/05/2020 20:03

Thanks ladies. Soda law and all that. I will see how this pans out then if no change il call docs xx

Elouera · 29/05/2020 20:16

Hi Op, sorry for your loss. I used to swear by one step cheapies from amazon, but I won't be buying them again. They are supposed to check hcg down to 10iu/ml, the same as FRER, so you expect them to be good.

I'd had IVF, so knew the exact date the embryos were fertilised and put back in. Despite this, I didn't get a positive till 14dpo. (I realise I don't know when it implanted). Despite using 1st urine of the day, I found they took up to 5mins to show anything, and even then it was incredibly faint. I had so many tests, I checked many times. Most concerning was a week after positive tests, I then got a negative! Even at 7 weeks when I actually went for a scan to confirm the pregnancy, it was still faint!

I've since read that there was an entire batch, not expiring till later in 2020, that were duds. I had a mix of the dud lot numbers and their normal ones, but even so, I wont use them again. I hope you are going ok Flowers

fashu · 29/05/2020 22:21

Hi all, thanks for all your comments and support! Feeling optimistic but getting so upset with these faulty tests.
Sorry for your loss @Mcbee26 from that frer I would request a blood test.
Took another onestep today and back to the vvf line so guessing they are just dodgy, but now panicking about frer, but heard they are bad for evaps so hoping I'm just unlucky!
I want to request a blood test but dont really fancy going into a hospital right now, so might hold off until AF is due and see?? I have just had brown cm again though so no idea what's happening with me?!?
I have had 2 periods since which seemed to be on time so hopefully it's a good sign that I'm ovulating?

I also don't think One Step are very good, I didn't really get a strong line with One Step until about 8 weeks and even then it wasn't great.

I would really recommend Easy@Home for cheapies (think someone already mentioned previously), definitely not as good as frer but I did get a clear line on the day of my missed period, so I expect a faint line would have been visible in the couple of days before that as well.

I also used them in the following days/ weeks to check for line progression and they worked as expected. Smile
