When do you get positive OPK?

Hi all, we have been ttc since March 19 but this will be the first month using OPK. My cycle length is usually 31-33 days and I'm currently on CD 15 and not getting a positive. Just wondering if anyone ovulates later in cycle or if I'm testing too early? TIA

Hi @ellie1878, you’ll usually ovulate 12-14 days before AF, so probably between CD 15-21 for you depending which cycle length you’re on. Positive OPK will be about 24-36 hours before, so you’ll see them turning darker any day now ☺️ xx

Oh, and those tests give better results later in the day, just don’t drink too much and don’t pee for a few hours before testing! I never got an obviously positive one but that’s the times I got the darkest lines and it must’ve been ok since I’m pregnant! xx

Thanks for your reply @Mandalory Ah that would make sense! I'm only taking them first thing in the morning so I might mix it up a bit from now on! They are only the Amazon cheapies but I hope they work! Thanks! X

I get my positive around day 19-21. These tests shouldn't be taken first thing in the morning. If you read the instructions that come with, they explain that LH which is what you're testing for builds up through the day. You could be missing your positive by testing first thing in the morning. I find they are best used to confirm when you think you're ovulating using other symptoms such as CM.

Hi just an update, I took today's OPK this afternoon and it's a lot darker than it has been! I'm hoping this is a near positive 🤞🏼 X

A better picture than before, CD 16 and it's almost the same colour as the control line! So excited X
