So long story short - we are hoping to TTC our third and final baby.

It's pretty much now or never - certain work opportunities and home finances etc, plus my age. And I'm so broody it's unreal.

My GP won't remove my implant, no clinic within a 20 mile radius will remove my implant.

I've called and hassled and nagged everyone. The last person I called said it'll be well over a year before their clinic is up and running again.

I know this is totally a first world problem. And it's more a whinge than seeking any kind of solution. I just had my heart set on it.

Has anyone else up and down the country managed to get their contraception sorted?

And I'll be as self absorbed as I like thanks!

My life has also been affected by the pandemic with family, friends, colleagues, work etc.

Even more so that life is too short, I'm not getting any younger and I'm a damn good Mum.

So I'll live in my self absorbed bubble - where I am happy. And it doesn't actually affect you 👍🏻

You don't have to justify yourself at all, everyone has their own reasons and I actually think now is a great time to try and get pregnant. As do most people on this board! Good luck with your appointment, I'll spare you the details but getting mine out was not pleasant Confused

YellowPenny · 27/05/2020 15:16

IT'S OUT! Hallelujah !!!

peperethecat · 27/05/2020 15:37

Are you the OP? Did you name change?

YellowPenny · 27/05/2020 15:49

ahaha no I'm not!
I was also having issues getting it removed for the last week, but managed with a Sexual Health Clinic.

peperethecat · 27/05/2020 16:11

Haha well congrats to you and happy baby making!

vinotinto88 · 27/05/2020 16:57

Brilliant!!! And all that fuss for nothing Smile

Have been following this and thrilled it is coming out for you!

I’m contemplating number 3 (and final) at some point and I’d been wondering about getting something like the coil in the interim. So glad now that I kept putting it off as I’d hate to have something in place that I have to beg to have taken out.

Obviously it was right that you weren’t high priority but we’re many months down the line now and life has got to go on in some form ... my DC1 has had some appointments postponed and whilst it was all fine for a little bit, I’m starting to get really frustrated now at the suspension of routine health provision.

minemineminemine · 27/05/2020 22:13

Gosh. I've just read this thread. I'm so pleased for you OP.

I very nearly had a coil fitted a few months ago and I'm SO pleased I didn't go through with it. If I didn't like the side effects I'd be stuck with it now!

borntohula · 28/05/2020 00:15

OP, please go in a Mr Blobby suit.

vinotinto88 · 28/05/2020 06:22

@borntohula Do you think I can get a sleeveless Mr Blobby?!

@vinotinto88 did you ever get it removed??

zippityzip · 04/06/2020 12:25

@YellowPenny After much digging and shoving and a second round of local anaesthetic- it's officially out. I am soooooo happy. Thanks for checking in 😁😁
He did say that he was pleased I didn't attempt it myself as it was so covered in scar tissue I would probably ended up at the GPs after hurting myself.
TTC here we come.

YellowPenny · 04/06/2020 13:31

@vinotinto88 I'm so glad! Oh gosh, thank goodness you didn't do it yourself!
Good luck TTC!

Juno231 · 04/06/2020 14:42

Yay OP I'm happy it came out! Ignore the trolls, they've clearly got about 20 IQ points between them. FWIW my GP friends have all been complaining about how quiet things are and how they've very little to do at the moment!

EmmaAM · 04/06/2020 20:56

As someone who is also TTC, I have just read this thread with a great deal of interest as I have had the coil in for just over four years and was worried that I wouldn't be able to have it taken out because of the pandemic. I almost felt guilty ringing up and asking if it would be possible but the receptionist was so lovely and put me at ease straight away. I was booked in a week later by the friendliest nurse imaginable and I am so grateful that me and my husband can now start our TTC journey! I'm so sorry that OP had to fight so hard to be seen but I'm so happy for you now, good luck on the rest of your journey! 😊😊😊

Wildflower2 · 09/06/2020 17:46

Been reading this thread with interest and I'm happy for those of you who have been about to get yours removed. I'd planned on getting removed at the beginning of the pandemic but I think I missed being able to by a few days. I've been trying my GP surgery but still getting a no. Not even being able to speak to a nurse or doctor. Sexual health clinic will be my next try so crossed fingers. I completely understand why this has all been limited however things seem to be opening up again.
