PCOS ttc cycle 6, positive opk

Hello everyone!

I was diagnosed with pcos in January after not having periods for a year off the pill.

Dr gave me metformin which brought on my first period last week! Ended on thursday and OPKs now giving me a flashy smiley 2 days running.

Trying not to get my hope's up as thats double good news this month but OH is enjoying things atm . Hoping I get a static smiley soon but we are dtd every day anyway so we are covered.

Anyone else in a similar boat?

Pcos can cause fluctuations in lh so it can give you a positive but not actually be true, it can also give you prolonged days of positive then go back to negative and ovulation didn't occur, if you have a look on Google it has information on there about opks and pcos. When I was ttc my daughter I had months of near positive and positive opks but never actually ovulated, opks do work for me now as since having DD and losing weight the pcos is gone and I've had 2 DS since and am now pregnant with #4 and no issues getting pregnant.

May be worth getting some cheapy opks as clearblue can get expensive over time if you may not be getting positives . Good luck x

It's better to start temping with pcos. Ovulation sticks are not reliable.

Hi I'm the same, I have tried opks digital and cheap ones and which showed several peaks of ovulation. So I've recently started temping and trying to get my head around bbt charts who knew this could all be so confusing!

Just to echo what pp have said, o didn't find OPKs reliable at all with my PCOS and never got a static smiley. However temping worked a dream and I got pregnant on my third month on metformin. Good luck OP!
