Please help, getting desperate! Period or implantation?

Hi everyone.

My husband and I have been TTC for 12 months. He is 40 and I am nearly 30.

I've had regular ish periods since I came off the pill a year ago, but recently they've fluctuated between 30 and 39 days.

Anyway this month I'm not entirely sure what day I ovulated on as I didn't seem to get a fully positive OPK (could be that I just missed it). Average ovulation day is 18.

This morning (CD 27, 9 days after average ovulation) I noticed a bit of jelly like mucus so thought I could be ovulating (just really late). I did an OPk and as you can see it's virtually positive. THEN, about an hour ago I went to the loo and there was brownish discharge in my knickers and some when I wiped. It was quite mucus like. So, is this my period on its way or could it be implantation bleeding? What does everyone think?

Hi, didn’t want to read and run. It could be either unfortunately. Before your period you will get a positive OPK because you get an LH surge BUT those tests can’t distinguish between LH or HCG so it could also be a sign of pregnancy. I’d say buy an FRER as that’ll give you the best idea of what is going on!

Whatever it was it has completely stopped. No period but also got a bfn on a cheap strip test. I suppose if it was implantation it's be too early for a bfp?

Update. The bleeding has stopped but this is my OPK today. What's going on?

@lucieee have you managed to take an FRER?

@Lolliloo1234 unfortunately not, my local supermarket was all out! Looks like FRER are the new pasta! I've ordered one on amazon so hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow

Update for anyone who stumbles upon this thread in years to come! I'm still having positive OPKs, mild cramps and groin pain. I've had no more bleeding, but lots of heavy EWCM. I'm beginning to think I'm just having a horribly long cycle and this is ovulation! The only thing I'm clinging to is the fact I had a short bleed.

Hi OP, if it was implantation then it would take a couple of days to show on a test - maybe test again tomorrow! Fingers crossed for you x

I've got an FRER which I'm going to use in the morning. I've had so much ewcm and positive OPKs that I'm starting to think it is ovulation. But on cd31 it's definitely not ideal and perhaps an indication of an underlying issue

Hi, I had some blood with a bit of discharge (Sorry, a bit gross!), I thought it was my period arriving and thought no more of it. Then 4 days later I was peeing more than usual and realised my period still hadn't arrived. I took a test when I got home and it was positive - so you never know! You're not out until AF properly arrives to fingers crossed for you x

Can't offer an explanation on the OPK though

Hi guys, I tested and it looks like it's a BFN I think it was just really late ovulation, meaning I've got another gruelling TWW. I'm still having positive OPKs as well as dizziness and shooting pains in my pelvic area, I think I'm just broken!
But like you say @Daffodil21 until AF arrives I'm still in the game!

Fingers crossed for you! I hate the TWW, it seems to last forever! Are you an early tester or have you given up on that after 12 months? Every month I tell myself I'm not going to test early, and every month I do!

@Daffodil21 I'm exactly the same. I tell myself I won't do it but I can't wait because it's been such a long cycle it'll mean I'll have been waiting 4 weeks, because I thought I ovulated two weeks ago. Torture!

Oh no! I had similar last month - I thought I ovulated earlier (but I actually didn't) so I had a three week wait! Managed to do slightly better last month though and only did 2 tests, and one was because I thought I ovulated early.

Hi everyone. The saga continues! I've had brown spotting Thursday, Monday and now today. I thought I'd ovulated last week but now I don't know if it's my period trying to break through. Here is today's opk - they've been like this for seven days now. And there's an IC next to it, with what appears to be nothing!

Sounds really stressful @lucieee sorry you’re going through this. Seems like cycles always want to mess you around just as you’re desperate for your body to behave! Do you normally get spotting before AF? Is this typical for your cycle (even if it doesn’t usually last that long)? Are you temping at all?

I am currently confused with my own cycle as I’m spotting pink/brown mucus - started at what would have been 7dpo and still going. Would be super early if AF such a bloody stress!

Anyway, your situation is definitely more stressful but just wanted you to know you’re not alone!

I don't normally get any spotting between periods at all. Well, I haven't since I came off the pill 18 months ago. My cycles are usually around 32 days but I have had the odd 40 day cycle, but only one or two. I've just taken a look at the pregnancy test again and there is a line there... but as it came up outside the 5 minute time frame I don't know if it counts! It's barely visible on the picture but it's definitely there. I've got horrible eye sight and I can see it!

Did you get your period or a positive?

It was my period. But the docs said it seems like I was ovulating in the week leading up to it, which doesn't really make sense!
