Clomid pregnancies

Hey guys, just after some other people's experiences. I'll try to be brief.

I had DD a year ago, conceived the first month of taking clomid (50 morning and night if it matters). Apart from that month I don't think I've ever ovulated (tried OPKs lots of times to make sure). This is probably due to thyroid issues though doctors have never tried to investigate the cause.

Period returned in september after starting to cut down the breastfeeding, since then I haven't ovulated. Long story short, after requesting Clomid again via the GP I ended up with a letter from the fertility consultant that says "I consent (WTF?!) to you trying to conceive naturally. If this fails we will send you to GP for initial enquiries."

Is this normal? I feel so lost as we were desperate to have a small gap between children and it just isn't going to happen now. Did anybody else who has used Clomid for a first pregnancy have to get a whole new referral to the fertility clinic and start the whole process right from the beginning again for a second pregnancy? It just seems insane and unnecessary but it seems there's nothing I can do about it It took four years the first time...

I didn’t have periods for years and as I’m a midwife I knew what was wrong but didn’t have time to confirm it as I was studying. So two years ago after meeting my husband we both decided we wanted a baby. I tried the NHS with it’s ridiculous waiting lists and last minute appointments that I could never get to because I was working away. So anyway my husband is Serbian and I decided to see a fertility dr in Serbia to confirm the PCOS and start fertility treatment. I got appointments to suit me and it was great. And he started me in letrozole which has a higher success rate than clomid and doesn’t thin the endometrium. We stopped trying after a month because of various reasons and have just started trying again.

@SeeWhoRustsFirst you could try soy isoflavones they’re dubbed ‘natures clomid’. They’re half the strength of cloned so you would need to take 200mg per day to get the same effect as 100mg of clomid. They sell them in Tesco in the vitamin section. Just an idea.

I am 45 and was due to start my first course of clomid. I got scared and didn't take on day 2. Its now day 4 and I am feeling ready. Can I take now or should I wait for next cycle. Last month was 2 months to arrive

Hi Charlie. Can I ask why you were scared to take it? Sometimes doctors have different prescribing policies for the days you take it anyway. So I’d say it should be okay but maybe check with your dr anyway. It is super annoying when you’re waiting for the end of the cycle to start again. I’ve definitely been there!
How long have you been trying for?
