Cramping week 5

Hi, I have had pretty consistent cramping for two weeks, starting shortly after ovulation. On Saturday I got a BFP, which was a bit fainter than I expected for 15dpo. I have taken tests since then and they haven't got any darker, although they haven't got any lighter either. I am still have cramps, which I would give a 4 on the pain scale. I called the GP this morning who really couldn't have been less interested and said to call back in two weeks 'if it sticks'. Did anyone else have cramping early pregnancy or is this just a sign of a chemical? Many thanks in advance, trying not to let my heart break

Hi, I had quite strong cramping on and off until about 13 weeks. I didn't have any with my first pregnancy and no idea why. Now 21 weeks and going strong.

I had terrible cramps , some left me doubled over in pain. My dr said unless it’s accompanied with bleeding then ‘switch off’ and if it continues and feels like contractions then contact them again. I’m 24 weeks and baby is absolutely fine . My advise is don’t do any more pregnancy tests otherwise you’ll get obsessed with whether they’re fainter etc . Wait to see your midwife at a booking in apt xx

Thank you so much for your replies, the GP said the only reason she would give for cramping is an early miscarriage and gave me a support website to go look at. Definitely not the answer I was hoping for glad you're both doing so well in your pregnancies x

I had cramps from when I was due my period for a good few weeks at least with both my pregnancies. Felt exactly like strong period cramps which was a mind fuck, but as far as I know extremely normal.

@NannyPear that is a relief, thank you! I am going to stop taking the tests like @GaaaaarlicBread suggests and just try and relax and desperately hope for the best Smile

I had cramping on my first pregnancy, so much so that I thought I'd actually had my period & didnt find out I was pregnant until I was roughly 10 weeks pregnant & everything went really well with that preganancy.
When I had a miscarriage I had no cramps at all, I just started bleeding at 11 weeks, went for my 13 week scan to find out I'd had a miscarriage.
Whilst everyone is different, they do say cramping in early pregnancy is common. I hope this helps ❤

I had period type cramping with my first pregnancy and with this one - and the achey feeling in the top of my legs which convinced me I was about to come of my period!

The result of my first pregnancy is climbing all over me of the sofa and I'm 22 weeks with my second!

Hey @Belalice - I'm having the same issue as you! Took two first response tests (one saturday and one today) and both got faint positives, but no darker or no lighter! I've had a bit of mild cramping on my left side, went to the right earlier and now back to the left. Glad to see some reassuring advice on here, will take @GaaaaarlicBread advice and if no bleeding is accompanied, will try to switch off! Hope you're feeling better today :-)

Hey @Belalice - congratulations! I'm currently 6 weeks pregnant and I had cramping from around 8dpo on and off. I honestly thought AF was on her way but when she didn't show I took a test and it was positive! I was worried too about the cramps and they continued for a good week or so on and off but I haven't had them for about 4-5 days now. I've read that it's completely normal (as long as it isn't accompanied by heavy bleeding) and it just means your bean is getting snuggly in your womb!

You have all properly reassured me, thank you!! @tweedledo I was naughty and took a test today and like people have suggested, I got a much darker line in the evening, waiting to hear back from the midwife about appointments for blood tests. Let us know how you get on, so glad there are women like yourselves that offer support to strangers freaking out x
