Removing IUD during lockdown to start TTC

Hello, my husband and I have finally decided to start TTC, only I can’t find any GP or health clinic that’s open to help me to remove my coil. I’m already ‘old’ in conceiving terms so I am really ready for it to be removed ASAP. Does anyone know of any clinics in London that are open or have any advice of what to do?

I had mine out on Wednesday. The receptionist was militant on saying'no routine removals', but I had a phone appt with a gp re coil advice and surprisingly she was happy to do it! I'm in Bristol, but if you either ring round or try and speak to the gp rather than receptionist you might have some success.

The guidance on workload prioritisation during CV from the RCGP has coil/implant removals as on hold until after the outbreak ends so you may not be able to have it removed as an nhs patient any time soon I’m afraid.

Private clinics near you may offer it though, google clinics local to you. This one does for a fee.

I had my coil removed on Friday at a private GP surgery so may be worth a google x

Update! I switched GPs and the new one is able to remove it on Thursday! Thanks again for the encouragement.

Please don't waste money going private. Had mine removed by Locals Sexual Health rather than GP. Makes more sense with everything the GPs are currently dealing with. If you say you have side effects they will remove it immediately. They won't remove if you tell them you are trying to conceive as they are trying to avoid this during the pandemic hence why no routine removals.

I had mine removed here OP. I originally went for an NHS removal but there was a hiccup which meant I had to be referred and I didn't want to dick around waiting for the NHS referral so I went privately.
