Negative at 9DPO

Hi, just wondering what people's thoughts & experiences are...
I tested this morning with FMU which is 9DPO and stark negative on a FRER test. Am I testing to early? Is there still hope for this cycle?
Thank you 🙂

Hi! 9dpo is way too early to test in my opinion. When is your period due?

jazzibelle · 10/05/2020 16:35

@SarahLM1990 9DPO is a little early, most will get a BFN around this time. They say not to discount yourself until AF arrives, so there's plenty of time yet for a BFP.

Wait until the day AF is due, or test the day before using a FRER with FMU or SMU (some say you get a stronger result with SMU).

Bleepers · 10/05/2020 16:45

I tested 9dpo and got a total negative and a positive at 10dpo. Definitely don't discount yourself x

MummyNWife · 10/05/2020 16:46

Yes. your still in with a chance, 9dpo is super early. Possibly try again in 48 hours, Good luck.

DressingGownofDoom · 10/05/2020 17:04

10 dpo is the first day most people can get a bfp x

SkylinesTurnstiles · 10/05/2020 18:01

I believe I got my BFP at 14 dpo

SkylinesTurnstiles · 10/05/2020 18:01
  • tests before that point were questionable/line eyes-y
SarahLM1990 · 10/05/2020 18:28

@heretobeanonymous I think my period is due next Friday however my cycles are always all over the place! 🙁

@jazzibelle Thank you for your words of hope! I'll keep my fingers crossed!

@Bleepers Thank you that makes me feel more positive 🙂

@MummyNWife Thank you for the well wishes 🥰

@SkylinesTurnstiles were you testing leading up to yo it BFP?

Thank you to everyone that has responded! You've made me feel hopeful again! 🙂

I got my bfp with my current pregnancy at 9dpo which is super early but with DD I was nearly 8 weeks, DS1 I was 10dpo and with DS2 I was 11dpo so 9dpo is super early and not that common, average implantation day isn't until 9dpo so baby may only just implanting, try again in a few days, good luck x

jazzibelle · 10/05/2020 18:58

@SarahLM1990 keep us posted, and hoping you get your BFP this month 🤞🏼 Try not to feel disheartened if it doesn’t happen though (easier said than done, I know) xx I’m about to enter the TWW and it’s so hard not to test from 6DPO 😂

Shmithecat2 · 10/05/2020 19:00

I didn't get my BFP until AF was 6 days overdue...

Juno231 · 11/05/2020 08:04

Implantation could occur as late as 12 DPO and it takes up to 48h for hcg levels to be strong enough for a test to pick up on, so yes - 9 DPO is way too early.

Laurend0603 · 11/05/2020 10:20

I never got the faintest of lines could only see holding it up to light at 11dpo...didnt get a proper recognisable line till 13 dpo good luck!

gln1989 · 02/12/2020 12:35

Ladies i need your help, i am going crazy.

Currently 9dpo and symptoms so far have been

Emotional wreck 5dpo
Cramps 7 & 8dpo - more on 8dpo
Emotional wreck - 8dpo
head feels fuzzy today - 9dpo
Mood swings - 7dpo, 8dpo & 9dpo

Am i symptom spotting too much or could this actually be my month? I did test this morning and got a bfn, i couldn't work out what was going on with my body. Last month i had very sensitive nipples so assumed that i would get my bfp as i never have any issues with my boobs.

Ahhh ladies, i am going mad and lots is going through my brain right now. I am 31 and my husband is 34 i just feel like we are doing everything right and i am starting to lose hope :-(

Any advice, good or bad would be appreciated.

Good luck ladies xx

Thisisbananas3 · 02/12/2020 12:43

Hi @gln1989

I have no proper advice I’m afraid, this is my first go and I am driving myself bananas symptom spotting too!

I’ve had similar feelings to you this month (I am now 12 dpo I think). I had a lower back ache pretty much after ovulation and have had cramps on and off the last week, but really bad yday.

I think 9dpo is a little early to test and it’s hard to know if it’s just normal cycle symptoms or anything more. I haven’t started testing yet because everywhere I read says test on first day of missed period.. but I have seen you can test from 10dpo so maybe try and hold out til tomorrow/Friday, if you can... the bfn you got today doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not pregnant!

I know that won’t help but please know you’re not alone in feeling mad!

Sending you luck and baby dust xx

gln1989 · 02/12/2020 12:51

Thank you @thisisbananas3.

I am going to try and hold out until Tuesday when AF is due but if i can't then i will try again on Saturday which will be 12dpo.

I have my fingers crossed for you that this is your month. x

Thisisbananas3 · 02/12/2020 12:58

Holding out is so hard though! But am happy to symptom spot with you, it’s so hard when you can’t really talk to anyone and your partner doesn’t really understand! Hope AF doesn’t show up on Tuesday and this is the cycle!

Do report back though, wishing you all the best! Thank you for the crossed fingers xxx

gln1989 · 04/12/2020 14:54

A little update - currently 11dpo and have had some cramping today but last night i was having cramping that felt like trapped wind and did feel sick but only for about 30 minutes. Face came out in spots yesterday which doesn't normally happen. The cramps i have had today are on my left side only and not my abdomen, is it not too late for implantation at 11dpo?

With all the stress of wanting a BFP and having a habit of testing to early i am not going to test until Wednesday which is the day after AF is due so i will let you know what happens.

Good luck to all. let's hope we are all able to have some positive news this month and finish a bad 2020 on a good note :-) xxx

Thisisbananas3 · 04/12/2020 16:03

Hmm I’m not sure about timing for implantation. your symptoms do sound promising though!

I tested yesterday which was 13dpo and got (3!) strong positives as I couldn’t hold out any longer, was feeling so sick and I had to know if it was in my head or not. Tbh if I’d have waited to today I think I’d have known anyway before the test because it’s like my symptoms have totally elevated. All night and day Ive had a pain that isn’t like cramping but isn’t not like cramping... so hard to describe! It’s more of a twingey ache in a different spot to usual period pain. So if it’s not implantation cramps you’re feeling then it could be something else...

Anyway good luck with your testing!!!!! Got fingers crossed for you and do report back :) xxx

gln1989 · 07/12/2020 11:05

@Thisisbananas3 I am so please for you that you got your BFP, what exciting news to get before Christmas.

AF is due tomorrow so i will let you know in a few days if anything happens i am currently 14dpo and have not really had any cramps etc since 12dpo so let's see what the next couple of days bring - I will keep you posted but as i have had negative testing at 9dpo and 12dpo i am not holding out much hope for this month.

We have decided that if i don't get my BFP this week we are not going to track OPK for the next month and just see what happens as i really don't want the stress over Christmas and New Year.

xx

Thisisbananas3 · 10/12/2020 11:38

Sorry for slow reply, been a bit hectic at work and all I seem to do is sleep!

Well you’re not out til you’re out, so let’s see!

And agree- if no bfp just enjoy Christmas, you’ll be able to have some alcohol and lots of cheese (if that’s your type of thing).

I didn’t use an OPK, just judged on CM and that seems to do the trick, so you can still keep an eye out if you want.

Still got fingers crossed for you xxx

gln1989 · 10/12/2020 12:04

@thisisbananas3

AF arrived yesterday and she is back with a vengeance so i am most definitely out this month but we are just going to enjoy Christmas and see what happens over the next couple of months :-)

I am trying to stay positive to see what happens. I will keep you posted.

How are you feeling?

xx

Thisisbananas3 · 10/12/2020 12:10

Ah!! Well there’s always the next cycle. And you can have fun trying!! you can really enjoy Christmas with all the trimmings (i was saving a nice bottle of champagne for Christmas Day and I’m a bit sad I can’t drink it now lol)

Please do check back, I’ll happily symptom watch with you too!!

I’m okay, thank you for asking- tired and anxious but I suppose this is my new normal! xxxx
