Hi all just wanted to know if any of you are taking pre conception vitamins and if so which ones?

OP posts:

Hey @Mrskcam - I'm taking Folic Acid, which everyone should try to take pre conception then up to 12 weeks pregnant (dramatocally reduces chance of neural tube development problems, including spina bifida). Just the boots one (4mg, says Pregnancy on the tub). I also take Vitamin D (that's just because I'm a Scot in lockdown so not enough sunshine) and iron (historic low levels).

I've also read you should NOT take Vitamin A supplements or supplements that contain Vit A, as they can be toxic to developing fetus if you became pregnant.

Best of luck!

@TheDaydreamBelievers thank you so much this is great info! Are you taking them all separately for any particular reason rather than taking an all in one sort of conception vitamin? Kinda new to all this haha 😂

The seven seas ttc tablets are great and have everything you need inc folic acid

TheDaydreamBelievers · 10/05/2020 12:34

@Mrskcam I'm new too haha, only just started trying. The only reason they are separate is that I was taking vit D and iron already prior to TTC, so I still had stocks of those vitamins then just bought some folic acid to add.

My understanding of the evidence base is that the multivits you get for pregnancy arent confirmed to have any extra benefit, unless you have an underlying deficiency in something. So my thinking is I may as well save myself the money by just taking the basic kind.

Hi OP,

I took Pregnacare pre-conception tablets daily for 3 months before trying to conceive, and I conceived each time, so they worked for me. Good luck x

I’m taking folic acid, have also this cycle started to take vitamin C and D along with a glass of pomegranate juice and orange juice every morning. My husband has started this month to take folic acid, omega 3, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D and pomegranate juice. Been TTC for a while now and done more research this month into what supplements can help boost sperm/fertility 😂

I'm taking the seven seas ones but haven't actually started TTC yet, just want all the vitamins in my system ready to go! Hopefully starting this coming cycle... or next. I'm using the seven seas to cover all vitamins that I may or may not be short of otherwise. OH started on some vitamin tablets as well, hoping they'll help when we get started

I have been using pregnacare preconception as well as ubiquinol since beginning of March and I think they helped. Conceived in March but ended in CP in early April and conceived again at the end of April and just got BFP this week.
