Spotting on pregnacare before conception

Hello! I know there have been a couple of older threads on this, but just wanted to start a new one - has anyone here experience mid cycle spotting (lasting more than a week) after starting pregnacare before conception vitamins? I noticed that the vitamins contain L-arginine, which increases nitric oxide levels, and increases blood flow. I am not sure if this has any indirect correlation with spotting in some individuals, but I'd be interested in hearing people's thoughts and experiences? Please advise!!

An interesting article - academic.oup.com/humrep/article/20/1/302/671492

Seems to suggest that increased nitric oxide levels might cause progestin induced bleeding?

I'm no doctor- but would like to hear people's experiences. Smile

Thanks

Hi👋 I dont have any advice but also have mid cycle bleed.

I've been trying for 5months and this is the 1st month I've been tracking ovulation. Last month I noticed mid cycle I was spotting and this carried on for 8days before my AF arrived. Wasnt expecting a BFP as we probably weren't trying on the right days... but this has never happened before.

This month I ovulated at day 18 and from day 19 till now (day 23) I'm spotting. So that's 4 days of spotting so far straight after ovulation. Obviously I'm anxious as I dont want the spotting to carry on as an egg will most probably not be able to implant 🙈

I've never spotted so much before maybe 2days at most before AF but last month and this month is sooo different.

Now that you mention the supplement, I started taking them about 2and half months ago... which makes sence 🤔 going to read the article now.

How are you doing? Xx

Solomon1212 · 10/05/2020 22:30

I was taking it for 3 months. I had spotting and delayed periods. At ond point i was 2 weeks late and my cycle length increased from my regular 28 to 34. Ive come off them and this month i was just 2 days late.

Jessdasilva · 10/05/2020 22:42

I read something about them helping to lengthen cycles 🤔 never crossed my mind about spotting, did u spot this month since coming off them?

hayho87 · 10/05/2020 23:48

I started taking it the start of this cycle, I'm 13dpo (11th May) and have had super light spotting. Only when I wipe for two days but not every time I wipe just a couple of times during the day. Very strange, it has made me wonder if they've caused it.

Smi13 · 11/05/2020 08:56

Thanks ladies! @hayho87, I had the exact same as you! Didn't need to really wear a liner or anything, just experienced spotting when wiping! @Jessdasilva thanks for your input! I hope you're doing well xx thanks @Solomon1212 for your feedback too.

I have now stopped pregnacare and ordered a natural supplement from Naturelo (the prenatal supplement from them). I'm currently reading it starts with the egg by Rebecca fett and her website recommended this prenatal. Hope you are all successful in your journeys xxxxxxx

@Solomon1212 I've also stopped them today so let's see what happens 🤞 I'm still praying for a BFP even though I'm spotting 😥

But if not at least next month I can follow my cycle and see if anything changes without supplements. Xx

Jessdasilva · 11/05/2020 22:16

@hayho87 when did your spotting happen in your cycle? Mine is also super light, only when I wipe and also not everytime. But mine happened the day after ovulation and so far I'm on day 5 of light spotting 😥

Jessdasilva · 11/05/2020 22:18

@Smi13 I might look into those supplements, thank you, wishing u all the success 🤞 when are you testing or when is your AF due? Xx

Smi13 · 12/05/2020 00:21

@Jessdasilva, I am expecting it in the next two days or so.. I do have a call with my gynaecologist tomorrow PM, so I hope to have more clarity then on his thoughts. I will continue to post with updates and feedback received (in case it's of help to any of you). I am personally not too hopeful for a positive test this month, but I think the journey is also about learning more about your body! Wishing you all the success xx Smile

Yeah it wasnt normal! Ive never had periods that lasted longer than 28 days or spotting in between. Only thing i could put it down to is pregnacare. Im now on the 2nd cycle since stopping them.
Ive been opk tracking this month and i used to ovulate relatively early in my cycle but according to premom i wont ovulate till the 18th which is a few days later than i used to so it will be interesting to see if thats correct.
Ive only started taking basic folic acid and cod liver oil. So fingers crossed for a BFP this month. Xx

Jessdasilva · 12/05/2020 12:36

@Smi13 good luck for your call tomor 🤞 hope all goes well!!! Yes please do keep us posted and I'll try post as well as we may be able to help others in a similar situation. Good luck xx

Jessdasilva · 12/05/2020 12:41

@Solomon1212 so strange that they can do that. As my spotting is definitely related as I cant think of anything else it could be. Day 2 without it so far and no spotting today after 5 days in a row 🤔 it's still early during the day so we will see how it goes. I'll keep you updated.

Yes, that will be very interesting to see when you ovulate this month, what cycle day are you on? I'll try just the folic acid on it's own 👍

Fingers crossed for a BFP 🙏🤞

hayho87 · 12/05/2020 23:00

@Jessdasilva mine happened 11dpo and 12dpo this month. I'm 13dpo today and not had any, I've order seven seas instead to try as the reviews don't mention spotting. I'm not testing for pregnancy until af is very late as my cycles can vary in length by a few days. I do feel like I'm out this month though x

Ellie141 · 20/01/2021 21:55

Do you lovely ladies have any updates? I’m also experiencing this on pregnacare but don’t want to stop taking them as I’m worried that will harm my chances of conceiving! But last month I was over a week late and this month I haven’t ovulated yet which is again a week late Confused! Take care :)

cat8986 · 20/01/2021 23:07

@Ellie141 i now only take folic acid and vitamin D, which is doctor recommended for conceiving, after I found taking vitamin B6 was delaying ovulation. I now ovulate bang on day 14.

Eating a balanced healthy diet will give you the vitamins you need. I personally don’t like the idea of taking too many supplements without knowing I need them, and based on other women taking them. What works for one, won’t always work for the other. We’re all different 🙂

Based on what you’ve said, it sounds like pregnacare is messing with your cycle, as I’ve read it does many women, so would recommend stopping taking it.
Good luck xx

Ellie141 · 21/01/2021 16:06

@cat8986 Thank you so much for the advise! I will stop taking them :)
Best of luck! X

cat8986 · 21/01/2021 16:49

@Ellie141
Glad I could help 😀 I totally believe in trying things, but if they’re changing things and making you worried, I think stopping is a good choice.
Obviously though, they might fit other women perfectly and not have any side effects at all.

Good luck to you xx

Prisbaby346 · 18/07/2021 20:07

I have also experienced the same thing. I was on pregnacare conception for just two weeks and my period had failed to show up.I am also in a distance marriage I need to plan this to know when I meet my husband. Please how long did it take for your menses to come? After u went off it? @Smi13 @Jessdasilva @Solomon1212 @hayho87
